Allergy Mom's (neg blood test)
Anyone have the blood work come out negative/ or the low end, and still have symptoms when given the suspect food?
My dd's blood test came back at .23 Our doctor said .35 is the low end. She wants me to try the egg again. A finger tip size amount of scrambled egg. She said she might still have a reaction, and the only way to know is to try again. She said if she has a reaction again it is a food allergy even though it didn't show up as so in her blood.

My DS tested negative for all of his "suspected" allergies on the blood and skin test, but he still has a reaction if given (or if I eat) the suspected foods.
DS's allergist didn't tell me that there was such a thing as non-IgE allergies, which don't show up on a blood test. His pediatric GI informed me of that.

Re: Allergy Mom's (neg blood test)
Thank you for posting. In my gut I think she is allergic. Her reaction was violent. My mommy intuition put up a red flag. Kwim? I am going to try a tiny bit again. I haven't noticed a reaction when I eat the food. I also haven't had a large amount of egg again though. I have had stuff made w/ eggs, like pancakes, but not an omelet. Maybe I will eat an egg first watch her for a reaction, then another day try w/ her eating it.

Re: Allergy Mom's (neg blood test)
What kind of reaction? Vomiting? DS got really bad eczema on his face, blood in his stools and was spitting up a LOT when I ate eggs. But I only discovered the allergy when I ate 2 eggs in the same day. A few months later I ate pasta in chicken soup not realizing they were egg bows and he had no reaction. I don't plan on trying again until he's a year old, but I've also eliminated all other high-allergen foods because he kept developing more allergies to things I had eaten previously with no reaction.
I KNOW my DS has allergies, and the ped allergist completely dismissed it and refused to believe that he is allergic to anything.

She had violent vomiting. Seven times in an hour. It was like her body had to get it out, then she napped, and was fine. She nursed and held everything down. I really didn't think it was stomach bug, b/c it only lasted an hour. This was the third time she had egg. The second time I thought I saw a few red speckles on her nose, it was flat though so I didn't think it was from the egg. She had been playing w/ DH, and I thought she rubbed against the zipper on his sweatshirt. I also ate an egg that morning. Maybe us both eating it was just too much? She also has a milk protein allergy. I tried cow's milk yogurt at 6 months, and 9 months. Still bothers her so I am holding off, and will try cheese after a year.

Sounds to me like an egg allergy. Did the ped test her stool for blood after that incident?
