Allure/Corning basement system

Does anyone know of or had the corning basement system installed? We had them come yesterday and the estimate was really high and we are curious for any feedback before we decide. It seems like a great product with a lifetime warantee, but the price Chat Icon

Re: Allure/Corning basement system

My co-worker just had this done a few months ago. She said their prices were WAY above the other estimates she had (but Alure is the only one who can do Owens Corning) and that the workers were a bit rude and there were a few days they didn't even show up. But in the end, her basement came out beautifully and she loves loves loves the cornings product.

Re: Allure/Corning basement system

They had an 'open house' in a house that they had just completed by us so we went since we were interested. It's really nice- REALLY NICE. We were very impressed by the sound proofing, how easily the walls remove, the fact that the floors are elevated, the fabric repairs itself if you hang something on it and then take it off. We were really impressed. But with that being said I have 'heard' how much this costs- never heard from them straight out and I am floored. I also didn't like how few color choices there was though I understand the color changes in different lighting.

Hope some of that helps

my neighbors did it with alure last year. they are now selling because they are relocating to ithaca. they are not going to recoop the money they spent & I didn't think its looks as nice as real walls.
There are lots of other ways to create a healthy basement without spending 50k.

Re: Allure/Corning basement system

I don't really know anything about it, but I don't understand the commercials for it - they drive me crazy!!

Why would it take MONTHS to sheetrock a basement? And why would it take WEEKS to put up this system? When we put up the drywall in our downstairs it took a day. Then the spackers did their thing over the course of a week.

I have also heard that Alure is very expensive. Can you paint the corning thing? Does it have all those seams?

Re: Allure/Corning basement system

I priced them for siding, windows, sunroom. They were WAYYY higher, almost double, than the company I chose (very reputable also) and they were RUDE. WE hated them. Would never use them.

Like Kelly said, I find them rather unsightly looking as walls and there are other options.

Re: Allure/Corning basement system

I have a friend that just used them on the outside of her house. She changed the facade, new windows, siding and roof. She was very unhappy with them. She told me that they sub contract out all their work (this I was unaware of). This same friend is now doing an equally large job inside of her house and is not using Allure.
