Alright, I need suggestions for hair cut/style, whatever...
I don't dye my hair--never have, and have no desire to...
I am getting kind of bored with my hair--it took FOREVER for me to grow it, but I think its time I shape it or something...
I like it long, so I am not looking to go drastically short..really just need some styling or shaping, or something..
My hair is naturally curly, and I do not straighten it often...and its very baby fine..it looks thick, but its actually very fine...
Here are a few pics..I tried taking a pic of the back of my hair but not much luck..LOL
Kinda dark...
straightened:
staticky--thts why it looks so uneven in this one--the back:
Ther way I usually wear it:

It looks like it's basically all one length - What if you get some long layers to give it some volume and lift the curls? They will spring up a bit more - Add some choppier layers around your face and you'll have a completel different 'look' curly or straight ....... Good Luck !!

I agree. I would also take off at least 6-8 inches. Even with that much, you'd still have long hair, but the length you have right now is working against you. Shortening it will lighten the curls (they'll have more bounce) and look healthier. Getting the layers like Marisa said will also make it look fuller.

I've been to Ouidad (years ago) and more recently Devachan in NYC specializing in 'curly hair' - IMO, it's not worth it UNLESS you have absolutely no clue how to handle your curls and you have terrible unruly out of control hair (which you do not) .......These places have very specific techiniques for cutting and styling your hair - Ouidad twists and cuts into it - Devachan literally cuts each and every curl individually - In my my experience, EVERYONE walks out of both salons looking exactly the same - Same hair cut, same style, same old thing .......
Admitedly, I'm also a little bitter b/c while my 1st cut @ Devachan was OK, Fine, nothing over the top or oh so amazing, but I figrued worth at least another visit w/ the stylist ..........the second one recently (past friday) was a disaster. - It's not a BAD cut, but I was very specific about wanting to keep my length and asked her to shape my hair so I could keep it long, b/c the I go through the same pattern - They chop my hair to just below my shoulders and 'shape' it - But I dont' like my hair that short, and by the time it grows in, it's gotten out of control .......and once again, instead of shaping and cutting it for me to wear it in a long style,or to grow into a long style - they chop it into a shorter style all over again ........This is the exact conversation we had the first time, and the exact same thing happened - I was upset, and paid a bit more attention to everyone else in the salon - Sure enough, once again, everyone walked out w/ the SAME cut, same style - They even shape everyone's curls the same - She did the exact opposite of what I asked her for - I wanted it to be long and messy and natural - which my hair will easily do with the right cut ..........but I walked out of there with very defined, almost curling iron looking curls, perfectly framing my face ......... - NOT at all what I was going for -
It's hard to find a 'curly hair' stylist that you can be comfortable with. - My suggestion is to literally stop people on the street when their curly style looks fab and ask them where they go - Try Katherine @ Maximus in Westbury ..I went to her for years and years she always gave me a good cut up until the last two times .....I think she just got to 'used to' my hair, and I was bored with what she was doing -

With curly hair?
I would not go to Ouidad, as I live in Rhode Island and when I am in Long Island, I am not anywhere close to the city, and just cannot justify spending that kind of money...
Thanks for the suggestions so far--keep them coming!

Re: Alright, I need suggestions for hair cut/style, whatever...
Hey we have the same hair! Unfort IMO, there is not much we can do with it. I have layers and its much shorter than yours (it falls just beyond my shoulders) so its a little fuller. Short of getting JHS which I would never do....I don't know what else we can do with it...any other suggestions ladies!??
I know someone who went to Ouidad as well and spend God knows what on her haircut. I did not have the heart to tell her that it looked nothing special - in fact it looked like it was barely touched!

oh come on... you can tell me anything
i recently went to ouidad and loved the results - for about a week. then as soon as it started growing out, it lost all it's shape. no idea what happened.
i am growing it out now... i agree with the PPs who said all you really need is a good shape. you need some shorter layers on the top and sides to give it some lift - the length of your hair is making it a little flat on top. but i think you can keep most of the length. you have great hair!

I think since your hair is thin, you can go shorter & with more layers than most curly haired girls, b/c it won't just get all wide.
I love your hair color--no need to change it!like this (although an iron may have been used here)
