Alure Design & Planning Show
They are known to be expensive, but Alure is having a design and planning show next weekend. Sat - Mon 10am-6pm

Yes, they are very expensive.
We had gone to their showroom and had them come for an estimate. Honestly, we hated their sales pitch, they harassed me about the Owens Corning basement system (still call me like 3 years later even thoguh I keep saying we aren't interested, don't call me or mail me anything anymore, etc), and they were about 5000-10000 more expensive than all other reputable companies we called for this or that.
Just my experience but I had to share it.

I laugh every time I see that ad. The house they feature is in my development and they got a fair amount of business from it locally. However, two neighbors, who used them (both friends of mine), hated them and in fact did not go with them when they did work inside.
Many of my friends do however call them to get estimates (they will come and give you computerized images) and then do the work elsewhere. I just called them for a quote and they were nearly double everyone else. It is also not widely known that they subcontract out most of their work which, sometimes makes for tough going.

ITA about their sales pitch! The salesperson came in with a money magazine article saying how much you can get back from a basement remodel...I wanted to throw the guy out right then and there - Does he think that I am that stupid that I don't know what has happened in the market since 2005? come on...Every time they call, I want to tell them why we didn't go with them, but DH stops me (he doesn't like to hurt how someone makes a living). I say they should know why, b/c the company is losing...now i know it doesn't matter since they do it to everyone.

ugh! i called them for an estimate and the sales pitch was just too much. and the guy was so condescending of other companies--i don't tolerate that.
and the estimate they gave me was almost double of the other 3 i got. when i told them i wasn't using them, they replied "when the work someone else does needs repairing, call us and we'll do the job right." yeah...right

Similar story about the repeated callign (years later). Sales pitch....listen to what they did to us.
One guy came to give us an estimate on siding. Tells us to "guess" what it would cost. We were like "NO". B/c if I guess too high, they will quote me a higher price than maybe they had planned since I clearly am uneducated and can get ripped off.
Then another guy comes to give us an estimate for their sunroom. He gives us the whole pitch and tells us to "Guess" what it would cost. We were like, NO, see ya. Clearly they have a game they play that they use to try to get uneducated people to set themselves up for getting ripped off.
So that's why I said we hated their sales pitch (among other things).

This was a concern of ours also.
Poor Tine...you meant well! Sorry to be a downer but they just don't have a good rep. Their big claim to fame is being on Extreme Home Makeover but that's about it.
