Am I crazy? Indoor tie-dye party for kindergarteners
Dd really wants a tie-dye birthday party and her birthday is one month away. It is NOT in the budget to go to a party place and have someone else do it. So I ask you, is it crazy to attempt an indoor tie-dye party with 20 5-6 yo's? I was thinking of enlisting help from my mom and SIL....
DD REALLY wants this!!!
Ugh....

Possible, yes, would I do it in February, no. Could you postpone her party to March and hope for a nice day to do it outside? Alternatively, I would email her teacher and ask if this is something you could do with the kids in school.

20! You are brave! I guess with enough painters tarp and an empty room, you could do anything. I'd do it in my basement.
An easier alternative is to have a 60s themed party and do the tie dye with your daughter before hand!

I would do it but I'm fairly laid back. The mess wouldn't bother me. I would make sure everything is covered. I think kids would love it! Do you have any other moms you could ask to help you because you might want some extra supervision.

I am thinking maybe I should ask a few friends who would be attending and see if they would be willing to help out a bit. Dd has a class of 24, but imagine not everyone will come. Then we have other family friends. I may ask her if she only wants to invite the girls in school.

Can you possibly set it up in the garage? Or outside on the patio and have like 3 at a time come out? So its not so cold... maybe have a rotation of stations? IDK...

Don't the shirts have to dry after? Between that and the mess, and bagging up wet shirts to send home with the guests, it honestly doesn't sound like a good time to me.

I would do this. As others said you are going to need them to dry enough before thy get home, have a line set up with hair dryer at the ready. I would also maybe just invite the girls from the class, much more manageable plus boys will be less likely to be excited about this activity. Good luck!

Would I do it.....no (ok, maybe outside)
BUT if you are set on it.....what's your technique? I was at a resort & they did tie dying but used ketchup/mustard/at home hair dye KWIM bottles. And various colors were applied to the rubber banded t-shirts.
Another option would be to get colored t-shirts & bleach pens & the kids can color/design shirts with the pens, so it has the opposite effect.
Just an idea.

When I taught pre-school we used the condiment squirt bottles over a bucket. Get a package of food service gloves because that stuff will stain.
I think the bleach pens idea is a good idea too. Or maybe they sell tie-dye pens?

I know you said no party places but I would look into Ben and Jerry's. they do tie dye with the kids and make sundaes and I think it's not crazy expensive.

You can also use permanent markers & spray it with alcohol, so the color bleeds.
