No you are not wrong, you have the right to be with your friends on new years eve and your mom needs to understand you are a adult and you already have plans with friends, she needs to compromise or just say I am sorry you feel left out but I am not a baby and i dont need to make my plans around you, I am sorry if that sounds harsh but this is what i would say to my mom if she did this to me.good luck

Sounds to me like your Mom is trying to lay a bout of mother's guilt on you.
You didn't do anything wrong, don't get down on yourself. You tried to rectify the situation. Hopefully your mother will realize that she isn't treating you right,
