Am I going to fail my 1 hr glucose?
I took it in my 1st trimester since my dad has diabetes - my dr. wanted to be safe, and I passed no problem... But I'm going next week at 25 wks, and I have been eating so much mre sugar than I normally eat this past month... Halloween time was ridiculous, and I sometimes will drink soda and have some type of candy like Swedish Fish, or Snapple, etc - the thing is, I never eat this stuff, but being preggers... well, you know - cravings...
am I going to fail my glucose test because of all this sugar???

Re: Am I going to fail my 1 hr glucose?
no...unless u eat it right before the test. I saw alot of things on here regarding eat before and then don't eat/./
I dk which one it was but a top pregnancy newsletter said Quest has alot of errors with the glucose because people are not told to fast. Anyhow..my g/f had it with her first--and not this time. She fasted..as I did as well for this in the past.

just dont eat before the test and you'll be ok! you might want to cut down on the sugar a day or two ahead of time.
and if you're craving sweets, try to go for things like dried mango or cranberries, which are healhtier than candy but still sweet!

Don't eat anything sweet before the test. If you passed the first time, you should be ok this time. I think the test is based on how your body breaks down the sugars, not what you eat. I have been a + size for years...then I got pg..I thought for sure I was failing the glucose, but, I passed. Good luck! Im sure you will be fine.

I have always eaten way too much sugar during pregnancy. Never fasted before the glucola test and have passed all 3 times.

Re: Am I going to fail my 1 hr glucose?
Dont worry, I was told it is how your body breaks down sugar, not what you eat on a daily basis for gestational diabetes. When you drink that drink they base it on that to see how your body breaks down that sugar- as you know its loaded with sugar. I failed my 1 hour and 3 hour and I wound up having to give myself 2 shots of insulin a day too. Never had a problem with my sugar before pg either. Good luck !!

I LOVE love LOVE dried mango - I consider that a sweet as well, though - still lots of sugar!!!

Re: Am I going to fail my 1 hr glucose?
I went for my glucose screening the week of Halloween! I was eating candy left and right, and I'm pretty sure I ate some the day of my screening. I definitely didn't fast because my screening wasn't until almost 6:00 at night. I passed the 1 hour.
So I wouldn't worry too much about having sugar. As another poster mentioned, the drink itself is all sugar and it's more about the way your body breaks down the sugar.
I'm sure you'll do fine, especially if you took a test early on and passed. Good luck at the screening!
