There is a kind that you have one mobile part, and then 2 stationary parts that go in the baby's rooms. My friends have, and it works pretty well for their two kids.

I got a second one of ours (FP Lights & Sounds) off ebay. My original one and the second set both came with the transmitter part for their room and 2 monitors to listen on. I have Sarah's room set to channel A, Andy's to channel B. I have one handheld monitor set to each room on my nightstand, and then another set of each one in our den (where I spend most of the day) for naps. I can carry those ones around where I need if I'm not in the den.

Our phones have a monitor function built using two of the handsets...so before you buy another check your phones...just a thought.

Depends will the new baby be in your room for awhile before he goes in his own room? If so maybe by the time this happens you won't need a monitor for Ali. Just a thought.
