am I sick? do people do this??? baby girl clothes

I am having a hard time parting with some of Jessie's clothes. Easter dress, fave pjs, things that when I bag up to give to another I get sad to never see it or feel it again.

sooooo...
can I save the 3 mos clothes for her dolls? Chat Icon do people do this?

I would love to see her dressing her little baby one day soon in her old clothes.

LOL what an idea!
I never even thought of it.

Thing is I'd use only those that I wouldnt be upset about if she damaged. Kids can be rough on clothes even if they aren't wearing them.

I don't know if I'm going to do that but my mom did that with a lot of my clothes when I was little. As a little girl I loved playing with real baby girl clothes. I think its a good idea.

Re: am I sick? do people do this??? baby girl clothes

at 31 we just discovered two boxes in my parents attic of baby clothing. I have to say its cute and all but useless. I would pick out some outfits and allow her to play with them but save only a few items. Nothing like tossing out baby stuff that your parents kept for 28 years and having to deal with that guilt.

I saved a few of each of my DC's clothes-bring home outfit, 1st Christmas and birthday outfits, 1st Easter outfit and other outfits that I just couldn't part with. I put them in a trunk. I don't know why, I just couldn't part with them!

Re: am I sick? do people do this??? baby girl clothes

I haven't parted with a stitch of charlie's clothing - I actually have no intention of parting with her NB-3m clothing, ever lol and will hold on to every special outfit regardless of age.

She uses some of the NB clothing for her dolls/stuffed animals...and she even has 2 outfits that were mine as a NB Chat Icon

Re: am I sick? do people do this??? baby girl clothes

i still have every single special occasion dress that DD has ever had. I also kept some sentimental pieces of her from her first year and a half that DH always liked her dressed in.

Re: am I sick? do people do this??? baby girl clothes

I felt attached to some of DD's clothes also. I turned it around and got excited about "what's next" instead of mourning what I was getting rid of.

When I give the hand me down bag to my friend I withhold certain special outfits. Ones worn on holidays or that she was wearing in a favorite photo. I don't want to see another child I know wearing those things. I donate the special outfits so some other little girl can wear them but I don't have to see it and can keep my memory of DD in it.

When my mom was teaching me to sew a seam by hand, I made an outfit for my doll from my old PJs. It was my favorite outfit. Chat Icon

DD was a preemie and the NICU nurses told me to make sure I kept a lot of her preemie clothes and leftover diapers. They said I could use it on her dolls when she got a little older - I thought it was such a great idea. It still amazes me when I pull some of that stuff out how she not only fit in it but a lot of it was actually big on her Chat Icon

It is tough giving up certain articles of our kids clothes. To reduce clutter I try to limit to whatever I can fit into 1 container and the rest donate. I did keep a few outfits for the kids cabbage patch dolls Chat Icon
