Amanda Peet Wedding Details Revealed!
After four years of dating, Studio 60 star, Amanda Peet 34, and Troy Screenwriter, David Benioff, 36, were married on Saturday, September 30th at Friends Seminary, a Quaker school (Peet is an alumnus) in New York City. Us was there, and came back with all the happy details surrounding their big day.
The Wedding: The event was a black tie affair. Peet wore an off-white Oscar de la Renta gown with a black sash pulled high above her waist with ruffles cascading beneath. The actress carried a bouquet of large white, pink and cream roses. Benioff and his groomsmen opted for black suits with white pin-tuck shirts and black ties (Peet's bridesmaids also wore black -- including her long-time friend, fellow Studio 60 star, Sarah Paulson). The bride, who was all smiles, walked down the aisle to a string quartet playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto.
The ceremony itself was a sentimental tour through the couple's life together. A Frank O'Hara poem was read, followed by a passage from a Samuel Beckett text (a favorite of the groom's since he studied the Irish poet while attending school in Dublin). The bride and groom were then serenaded by Angela McClusky of the Wild Colonials, who sang "Gold In Them Hills" by Ron Sexsmith. A friend of the couple told Us that it was "their song" and that "it has a lot of meaning for them."
"It was a beautiful event," says Peet's friend, Ken Witty. "Amanda looked beautiful. They passed the rings around so every single person could touch them, which was unusual, but nice."
Other guests in attendance included actor Mark Ruffalo and actress Elizabeth Berkley.
"It was beautiful," Ruffalo tells Us.
"It was a really normal wedding," adds another guest. "It wasn't over-the-top and not too Hollywood, which was really nice."
The Reception: After the wedding, guests were shuttled by bus to New York's Chelsea Art Museum for the reception. Family and friends of the couple dined on lamb, lobster and champagne before digging into desert - s'mores, ice cream bars and a three-tiered coconut wedding cake.
"David actually did a really great speech when they cut the cake," says a guest. "It was about meeting Amanda."
Later, guests were treated to a DJ and live music. Notes another guest: "Amanda was the first one up dancing."
Peet and her new husband finally called it a night around 1:30 AM Sunday morning when their limo picked them up and carried them off into the darkness. The next day, the duo was spotted casually strolling down a street in downtown Manhattan, the bride's designer gown downgraded to a chunky black sweater and matching leggings -- the perfect camouflage for the couple's next big milestone together -- the actress recently announced on the David Letterman Show that she and Benioff are expecting their first child early next year.
"I’m glad David’s making an honest woman out of her," cracks Peet's Studio 60 costar, D.L. Hughley. "She’s going to be a fantastic mother. I think that marriage and motherhood change you and she was always a smart, charming woman and now she’ll be a smart charming woman who doesn’t get any sleep."
