American Idol. . . replacement for Paula
If Paula was being replaced on Idol. Who do you think would be a good replacement?
I'm thinking Whitney Houston would be great! Her words would mean more to me as a contestant.

Can I ask why (sincerly, not snotty) I can't imagine why someone who ran down sucha crackhead road would carry greater weight.
WIth that said, yours is better htan mine because I can't come up with anyone.

i think ANYONE would be better than her. I think i'd actually prefer to listen to nails on a chalkboard if it meant bypassing her commentary.

I would pick Whitney because contractually it would be easier. She really isnt' that busy anymore. She had a great career and she still sounds great and could still sell out a theatre. Her drug problem is in her past. I think she is definitely by far more respected in the music industry then Paula Abdul.
Where as somebody that is still a hot commodity would be hard to deal with taping wise for shows. But you never know.

Well said. And I agree with Deb about Whitney and the crackhead comment. IMO, the marriage to Bobby and the crack obession stripped her of any dignity.

I think it shouldnt be about someone who has a good voice. It should be someone who knows about showmanship and performing. Paula always had a horrible voice. I would be more inclined to pick an all around entertainer.

The thing with Paula is that she is very entertaining to watch. I just can't wait to see what stupid comment she is going to make. So they would need to come up with someone who has the same craziness as Paula otherwise I feel like you lose something with the show. Britney might be good, Paris Hilton might be good but her complete stupidity might annoy me.

as talented as she is (and I must admit she is NOT my cup of tea )...from what I've seen of her in interviews...she doesn't seem all that articulate, IMHO. She might not be much better than Paula!! But at least Paula has drugs to blame! Then again maybe I'm not giving Celine credit...being that singing IS her thing she might actually be able to say something intelligent about it!
Has anyone caught American Idol Rewind (old episodes with current interviews of contestants) on Channel 11? Every once in a blue DH and I run across it and watch. It's fascinating to see how far downhill Paula has come! And pretty darn sad...
