Amex makes no sense to me sometimes
so I returned over $6K worth of stuff this weekend (my ebay bags that didn't sell)
and I can see the returns on my account on line
but on there screens my balance hasn't updated yet
so they wont let me charge anything until there screens update
and I just made a payment
I don't understand how my online balance has updated and it hasn't updated there
I need to buy my inventory - and I had plans to go tonight!
she told me to call back at 12pm to see if it has updated
so annoying

ugh - I wonder if it was a weekend thing? or (I hate to think this) do they take a few days (set amount) to take the charges off, so they can charge more interest?

no interest on an Amex card - it a "charge card" that has to be paid in full monthly
but that's a good point for other cards
it normally takes a day or 2 to see the credits on the account
the items I returned yesterday are not on my screen yet
I just need to use my card! it's the only one I carry- I have stuff to buy!!!!
2 hours till I can call them again

I notice things like that when I make payments - the balance will be updated but available credit takes another business day to get caught up.

I believe it depends on the store you return it too. I know in the past stores used to wait a couple of days to really apply returns on your CC.

that's exactly what is going on!
b/c on my screen when I can't charge anymore- it says "Account Suspended"
and they normally call me to tell me
neither of which is going on
so I think it's just a matter of different departments linking data
I hope they get it done by the end of the day

it takes a matter of seconds for charges to go on an acct but sometimes days for a credit!!  go figure!!

I know right- they managed to charge you right away- but the credit takes a few days to show up
