It says two stoves and refrigerators. I wonder if that means there is an apt in the house.

Usually that does mean there's an apt.. I'm wondering though how they could have a basement apt. in a house so close to the water.

It is going into contract (not signed yet) for just around $400k.
The agent said that the owner just wanted to get rid of it ASAP and that there was a bidding war on it and they finally accepted one bid near $400k mark. He said it was insane how many people jumped at the opportunity.
He also said the house was fine, small but fine and well undervalued for the area.

My BIL has a cape on the water in Amityville. They have an upstairs apartment they rent out (bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom - very small and slanted) AND they have a fisherman's cottage they rent out (3 rooms). So it's possible this house either one of those.

No, Amity Harbor is east of Amityville, it's almost Copaigue. That was still cheap for the house. I used to date a guy who lived there, in the same kind of house and I would guess there is an apartment in the garage. The house is too small to have two kitchens and it doesn't really look like they dormered it.
What a deal for the person who bought it!
