Amnio is done

I went for my amnio yesterday afternoon. It was much faster than I expected. The sono guy did all the baby's measurements and then the doc came in and within a couple of minutes, the needle went in. I guess I expected 20 minutes or so of checking the baby's position, fluid level etc. but it wasn't that long at all.

When he put the needle in, I felt a little pinch, but not even as bad as when they take blood. I did have a few painful cramps when the needle was in there. Before the doc started pulling out the fluid, he was moving the needle around a bit (in and out a little more/less, and just rotating a bit I think). Of course when it was over, my DH had to give me "2 for flinching"!

I rested all night last night, and I'm on the couch again today. My doc said he wants me in bed or on the couch with a pillow under my knees or in a recliner for last night and today.

I did have some really bad pains/cramps last night when I turned over to turn off my lamp. I made DH get out of bed and come around to do it for me. I've also been having some kind of bad pains in my lower belly today. I'm not sure if it's normal or if I should be calling my doctor. I guess if it gets worse I'll call.

I did ask for the FISH results so I guess now I just have to wait. Does anybody know when I should expect the results?

So glad you got that over with!!! And please do stay off your feet and rest!

We also requested FISH results. My Amnio was late on a Wednesday afternoon and I had the prelminary results by lunchtime on Friday. They say it takes 2-3 days. I had the full report the following week.
