Amy Winehouse Toxicology Report Finds No Illegal Drugs in Her System

Amy Winehouse's family has released the results of the late singer's toxicology tests, which reveal that no illegal drugs were present in the singer's system at the time of her death, the AP reports.
The final tests showed that alcohol was present, but how it affected Winehouse has yet to be determined. Chris Goodman, a Winehouse family spokesman, released a statement today saying, "Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy's system at the time of her death."
It was previously suspected that Winehouse died of alcohol withdrawal while others have reported that she had taken hard drugs the night before her death. The new report does not detail why the singer died. Her family is awaiting the full investigation, which is set to begin in October.

 technically prescription drugs arent considered illegal but can be fatal. ie vicoden/oxycodone if too many are taken.

technically prescription drugs arent considered illegal but can be fatal. ie vicoden/oxycodone if too many are taken.
ITA. I think we need to wait for the "official" reports to come out.

Yep, that was my first thought too. I think it's going to be a combo of legal drugs that killed her.

ITA. I think we need to wait for the "official" reports to come out.
But if they weren't prescribed to her would they still be considered "legal"?
And according to the article this was the official tox report from authorities.
Personally, I think her heart stopped from the abuse she put it through but I'm hopeful her tox tests come back clean for any kind of drugs.

Personally, I think her heart stopped from the abuse she put it through but I'm hopeful her tox tests come back clean for any kind of drugs.
This is what I thought when I read the article. The body can only take so much.

Yes they would still be considered a legal drug ... she just wasn't legally taking them. Which is most likely the case -- mixed with the years of abuse on her body. Those details won't come out until after full investigation.

Amy Winehouse's family claims no illegal drugs were present in the singer's system at the time of death ... but there's a gaping hole, because they made no mention of prescription drugs.
A source close to the family would not comment on any prescription drugs, even though he and the rest of the family were categorical on illegal drugs.
The family says they have seen toxicology reports which discount illegal drugs. The family did acknowledge Amy had been drinking at the time of her death.
As for prescription drugs, there are a number that contain the opiates similar to heroin, including OxyContin and morphine.

She did so much damage to her body and was addicted for so long that NOT doing drugs may have done her in, sadly.
My uncle almost died last year when he tired to stop drinking. After years of abusing alcohol, his body needed it, and when it didn't get any, his organs literally started shutting down.
The human body is a strange thing....
