An interesting way to enter the world
Thursday 8/15 - At 38 weeks, I thought my water broke. DH & I calmly made our way to the hospital to find out that it was in fact a false alarm. (Just my plug regenerating that hadn't had a chance to harden yet). We were sent home after a 1/2 hr of observation.
Saturday 8/18 - DH & I had just finished dinner with DH's grandfather and decided we needed a few things from the store. DH & his grandfather went to get what he needed and I went off to get the few things we needed in the house. As I walked to meet DH on the checkout line I slipped on some spilled liquid on the floor. Thankfully, I landed on my butt & legs. A little sore & shooken up - an ambulance came to take me to the hospital to make sure everything was okay.
I was sent to SB & evaluated in the ER. I was discharged from ER but sent to their L&D for further observation. Baby was fine, but I had to be monitored for 6 hrs post fall. My doc is affiliated with St Catherines, so i was adamant that should I be having this baby, I was going there - no questions asked.
With about 2 hrs left to go at SB the doc came in to tell me that I was 4 cm & 90% effaced and having contractions about 4 min apart (nothing I felt though). So with my doctor's permission, she would release me to go to St Cat's.
Got to St. Cat's by about 12:30 am & spent the night. My doc would be in in the morning to induce me!
I was surprised to see my doctor in at 7am...to which he broke my water & started me on pitocin. He told me he'll see me around noon or a little earlier to have this baby. The pitocin started to kick in at around 7:30 & mannn do contractions hurt like hell! Quickly I decided I wasnt a hero & asked for an epi. Since it was a Sunday morning, we had to wait for the anesthesiologist to get his butt to the hospital. I think I got the epi at around 8:30...Best thing in the whole wide world!!
At 9, the nurse went to put a catheter in but something was blocking her from doing so....she checked & I was already 10 cm & my sweet DD's head is what was in her way!
2 hours labor - I'll take it! We were finally ready to push around I guess 9:30 or so. I couldn't feel a darn thing, so the nurses had to tell me exactly when to push. After what felt like sooo many pushes, somebody cracked a joke & I laughed. My doc was pleasantly surprised & told me that that laugh produced the best push so far (and it's working, so keep doing it!). My last few minutes of pushing consisted of laughing my DD into this world.

Love your story!! I think you were actually in labor when the doc saw your contractions were 4 min apart, but most of your labor you spent not feeling it, which is amazing and so lucky!
She's just beautiful!!!! (But I think I've told you that already a few times.) Welcome little sweetheart!
