Analyze this...please... totally weirded out.

Ok, so on Wednesday I get a call from a headhunter who was in MA. He was responding to my resume in response to his ad for a Logistics/Operations Specialist... the job description was my job as an assistant buyer word for word with the exception of one thing which I had prepared for the buyer... Something that I did and he had the final say on. Anyway...

I interviewed on Thursday and I was there for two and a half hours. Great interview in my opinion. It was the VP of Prodcuct Development, the CFO and the CEO. I interviewed with everyone except the Executive VP of sales. I sat in on a conference call the the VP of Prodcut Development and two other associates on a problem they were having and I gave my opinion which they actually wound of doing exactly what I said I would have done. I even got on a personal level with the guy, found out he was getting married next May, where he went to high school, learned he had a boat, his opinion of people in the office, what was goign to happen to the person who currently holds this position, where this position will lead to once they are promoted and his work history. He said so the job hours are flexible-8/9am to 5/5.30... pretty much depending on your work load. I did not ask for this info. He told me I would get benefits and that he knew my salary range which he was fine with. Asked me when I could start. Told me if I was sick or my children where sick, that he could have me log on remotely and work from home (as long as I didn't abuse it)... I did not ask for this info-he just told me that he would be ok with it. At the end of the interview, he said that he couldn't tell me if I was hired because he was under contract with the agency and it had to go through them, but he woudl talk to the CFO and CEO and call me when the board meeting they were having was over... he promised to have an answer for me with in 3 hours. He had asked me straight out if I would be interested in teh psoition and I said yes!!! Very. I told him that I liked the work environment, I was totally qualified for it with the exception of the software and I liked how the company was growing so I wouldn't be stuck in the same position forever...

When I was driving home, I get a call from the president of my old compnay who told me that they called him for a reference and he said I told them the truth, if I was able to, I would hire you back in a second. He told me that he was pretty sure the guy said he was hiring you but just needed to confirm what I had told him about beign laid off and my work ethic.

So when I got home, I sent a short and informal email to the guy saying that it was nice meeting him and that the interview was interesting becasue we were kiddign around the entire time how he probably scared me off due to the informal way it had gone. I mean he even cursed once of twice, lol.. ok, maybe more... He sent me back this...

Yes I just got out of the board meeting…….UGH! im speak to Chris today about what exactly the deal is.

Will keep you posted

Chris was the CEO. He was also very laid back and joking with me. He and the CFO had said that they could tell that I knew what I was talkign about becasue I asked questions pertaining to certain things that no one would know without working knowledge of the job.

So he called me at 4.12 and told me the meeting ran late and he would call me tomorrow.

While I was in another interview (a third interview with another company) on Friday, I get a call from him. He asked that I please drive back out to Bohemia and interview with one last person to get the ball rolling.
I drive back out and interview with the Exec VP of Sales for TEN minutes. I didn't even see the guy who called me for other that a sec. This new guy left it off as-Thanks for coming, we'll be in touch. Give us a call next week...
NEver heard from them after that... Not even the nice guy who I interviewed with originally. I thought he would atleast call. The agent said he hasn't either...

Did I do something wrong? Isn't all this weird? I WANT THAT JOB!!!!

It's strange that they're working around the headhunter. It's unusual that the headhunter wouldn't have arranged the second visit.

He didn't even know I had a second interview. HE said to me oh, I didn't know they called you! Thank you for the update! I said did they say anything about me? He said I didn't speak to him on the phone, but he said he was very impressed with your skills and experience in the industry. I was like, "Oh...How generic can you get???"
I felt like he was hiding something.

Did you send a thank you email to the person who you met with on the last interview??

If not send a formal thank you to him and a follow up to the guy you connected with, then you have to wait.

Good luck,

Tom

I dont have his email, no business card, and the recruiter didn't have his email or even know who he was. He also told me that he was leaving for Las Vegas for a trade show and wouldn't be bback in for two weeks... I was goign to send an email to the first guy on Monday and get his email and also wish him luck at teh show...

that's very odd to me that they're communicating w/you directly and not thru the headhunter. that's what they're paying the headhunter for...

ETA: I wouldn't send thank you emails to anyone. send actual cards. you can buy nice ones at cvs.

I know it sounds weird, but it was so informal I think a formal thank you would actually be inappropriate. DOes that make sense? That is why I sent the first email to him. It was so weird. He was like hang out here, I am goign for a smoke... I said no problem! He cursed 10 plus times-this is the VP of Product Development. That's why I was going to send an email. ALso so I know teh second guy got it while in Vegas.

i understand what you're saying but i think it kind of goes along with the whole 'you can never be too overdressed at an interview' type of thing. a hard copy thank you will also get you in front of their face without being annoying. and since you don't have the other guy's email, you'll kill two birds with one stone. sorry you have to deal with such a frustrating situation!
