And THIS is why I hate my vet. UPDATE in first post
I called at 1:45 and spoke to one of the girls at the desk. She took down all of the info and said that a doctor would call me back. 5:00 comes and no call. I called back and was told, quite nastily, that the doctor does have my message, but went into surgery at 4:30 and will be in surgery until they close at 7.
I was at work when I called and had to work late, so it wasn't like I could even just bring her in. Rick is away on business this week, so I am playing the single parent role.
I'm sorry, but to me, waiting over 4 hours for a call back about possible reaction to a surgery is unacceptable.
My neighbor came over and fed her and took her out this afternoon and I just got home. She ate half her lunch and went potty like normal (it was a little soft and not well-formed) but is acting like the true maniac that she is and I am used to. I am going to add some white rice to her dinner and see what happens.
Her bruising from the other night is totally gone, though!
UPDATE: So they just called (a tech and not one of the docs) and said that the pain meds that they sent us home with could be causing the lack of appetite and vomiting and loose stool. Hmmmm.... Funny thing is.... WE NEVER GOT PAIN MEDS!!!!!!!!! They told me to just add some rice (which I was going to do with her diner tonight anyway) and if I'm still not seeing any improvement, bring her in tomorrow afternoon.
And, (I never got around to posting this over the weekend), they sent us home with the wrong size e-collar. The poor thing slipped out of it several times the first night and got her little paw stuck in it when she was trying to scratch her neck. I called them the next morning (Saturday) and was told that they didn't have the size collar she needed and that I would have to adjust the one they gave me. This would involve moving the velcro strip and cutting off the extra plastic so it wouldn't irritate her ears. I ended up going to PetSmart and just buying one - which I am going to bring the receipt for with me the next time I go to the office and demand that I get reimbursed for both the one I bought on my own and the one that they charged me $20 for which wasn't even the right thing.

Oh I wish I had someone in your area. That is sooooo not how to be treated as a patient/client.

Once her stitches come out and she gets the second round of one of her shot (will be at the same visit) , we are out of there.
We went on the rec of a friend who LOVES this practice

you need to state, when you are leaving, WHY and speak to the doctor or office manager - and tell them WHY they have lost a patient - b/c they are wrong and it should be stated.
where are you located??
perhaps you can get some other recs

Given this new information I would find a new vet even before getting the stitches removed. Such a shame to have to search while she is possibly in need of attention.

I agree. I would start looking for another vet ASAP. I will send an email to my cousins (who live in the same town as you) and see who they use.
I'll let you know what they tell me.

Thanks Jenn! I'd really appreciate that!
