Andrew got out of the house this morning...
I almost had a heart attack.
I went out to move DH's Truck and as I am backing out I look for some reason at my front door and there is Andrew standing on the 2nd step soaking wet with his socks on just staring at me.
I jumped out of the car so fast I can't believe I even put it in park. I was freaking out.
He is now tall enough and old enough to open the front door. During lunch I am going to go and get safety locks for the doors and now when I go outside I have to make sure I secure him somewhere first.
It was so scary and now I see how people can accidentally run over their child. If he had his sneakers on, he would have been a lot faster down the stairs and I would have never seen him.

Whew! Thank God he's ok. Yep definitely get those safety locks for the doors. I think I may get them too because Matthew can reach them now. He can't turn them but you never know...

OMG!!!! I am going to have to tell my ILs to look out too. I put Michael in the pack n play when I need to step out the door for any reason because of exactly what Andrew did.

OMG that is so scary! Thank God he is all right! I know I realized recently that my DD could unlock and open the front door, so we just got those safety covers for the front and back doors.

That is so scary. Chalk it up to a lesson learned - the easy way. 
Thanks for sharing, I am going to add door latches to our list of baby proofing needed, I hadn't even thought of that.

OMG, thankfully you saw him...
My DS did it too. He opened up the door once because he heard someone there (I was in the back room changing Lauren's diaper). I didn't hear anything until I heard a male voice taking I never ran so fast. It was just the mail man putting a package at our door, and we know him well, but can you imagine any other scenario

HOW FREAKIN' SCARY!!!!!
I know Ali has been able to touch the handles, but she doesn't know how to work them - but DH and I just said last night we are going to get stuff to keep her in. Especially knowing my car is RIGHT outside the front door

That is so scary!!!
DS did this to me at his grandparents house in FL. They have those stupid french handles-he is a manace with those-all I have to say is thank goodness they live in a Cul-De-Sac he was out and headed for the street!!!

yeah you have to watch they with everything. he could have been behind you and the door didnt click. olivia at 18 months went out the back door onto the deck. we have a screen door and she opened the screen. i was so scared. we have a fenced in yard but its frightening. the next day we got a latch on the screen.

Much safer to back your car into the driveway - that way when you pull out you can see what is in front of you.
