Ann Curry leaving today
I don't get to watch morning TV often. I was so surprised to see a new co-host yesterday when I turned on the Today Show. I guess I missed the fact that there was drama in the way they handled asking Ann Curry to leave. I haven't read much on the topic and didn't see anything here. Was there a general dislike of her or was she asked to leave b/c of ratings? What's the deal with the new co-host?

Ann Curry leaving today
The rumor was that Matt Lauer wanted her out ASAP. He just didn't mesh well with her as a co-host and the fact that they lost their #1 morning show streak for the first time in something like 16 years to GMA didn't help her case either.
So the gossip sites said that he and the NBC execs wanted her gone and they wanted a younger face and choose Savannah Guthrie. The other rumor was that Natalie Morales was passed over for the job because Lauer allegedly had an affair with her when the Olympics was in Torino years ago.
Once the decision was made that Anne was leaving everything got leaked and they didn't even let her finish out the week, Wednesday night the decision was made and Thursday morning she did her goodbye right before 9:00am. She didn't even get some proper sendoff considering she was on the show for 15 years. No montage or crew members singing or any of that. She did her goodbye, hugged everyone (but Matt) and that was it.

IMPO, they completely disicked her over! I have been watching the Today show for 13 yrs and although I agree, Ann wasnt a right fit for the spot, I think she deserved better than that.

Ann Curry leaving today
I liked her. The Network & Matt Lauer deny the rumors, but who knows.
They said she didn't get a big send-off because she's not gone, she's taking a short break and then will be back doing special reporting. She's covering the olympics for them.
I really felt bad for her on Wednesday, she seemed to be in such shock and so upset.
I did reaqd that they never wanted her for that role, but only put her in because she had been passed over before for promotions and they felt bad...
I do not like Savannah.

I never cared for her and didn't like her as co-host at all.

I liked Ann but I do think she was a bit lacking in the personality department. It was not right what they did to her though. I'm glad they went with Savannah. She seems very sweet and works well on the show.

i honestly think all of those people are total bores- Al Roker- Matt Lauer and Ann Curry. No personality and wet blankets. I also dont see the big to do over Katie Curic. Ill also add Meredith Vieira to that list.
