Anniversary help for difficult in-laws
We're having problems deciding on a gift for my IL's anniv tomorrow. Last year we gave them a gift certificate to a restaurant, which they are only using this year so another one is out of the question. They are not the type to appreciate tix to a show. They pretty much stay in the house or go to TGIF together on Fridays. I will get them a G.C. for TGIF as a last resort.
They're not the type for baskets of things either. I had thought of getting a portrait of them done, but FIL is a painter and I'm not sure if he would prefer to do it.
Any suggestions would be welcome!

You could get each of them a cashmere sweater. Do they play games? You could get them a delux Scrable set with the leather dictionary. Are they into cooking, perhaps a cooking class? or a wine tasting with a limo ride for out to the vinyards?

MIL crochets most of their sweaters She's actually a decent cook - I'd like the classes myself. They don't drive which limits them

I like the idea of the scrabble set - that is more their style. Where have you seen these?

You are too much, D
Do they have a car, Donna? I have actually gotten my parents a gift card to the local full service carwash. My parents are in an co-op and cannot wash the car themselves, and they really apprecaite this gift ..

Nope, no car - they never do anything! Thats what makes this so frustrating! I think some of these ideas are great, but I know they wouldn't appreciate them. I would love to give them a movie membership, but they prefer all old movie classics and have them all on DVD. So they stay at home and watch them
