Another baby after a C-section
I'm just curious since so many people on the pregnancy board talk about planning for baby #2 before baby #1 is even born or those who plan on doing 2 under 2...
If you had a c-section what is the minimum amount of time you must wait before getting pregnant again? Does maternal age affect that - the big 3-5 is coming up for me in the fall.
We want our kids close in age, but I would think to have a healthy second pregnancy we'd have to wait till everything completely heals inside... which I keep hearing can take about a year.

I don't know if there is a min time, maybe 6 months?..I had my first C-section at 35 and my next at 36( they are just under 17 months apart. I personally had no issues, it was smooth sailing for both..I think it all depends on how each person heals, everyone is different

I was told by my doctor to wait a year before getting preggo - and her partner says to wait 18 months.
I know plenty of people who didn't wait and had perfectly fine second pregnancies!

I was asked by my dr. to wait at least 1 year.

For us, yes. I was 38 when DS was born. I will be 39 this fall and don't see myself postponning another year. I just more tired every year.
I will be ready this fall to TTC. I feel my body healed now. DS will be 15 months when we TTC.

Does maternal age affect that? For us, it will b/c I was 37 when DD was born & we plan on TTC in the next few months (DD will be 13-15 mo old)
However, my SIL had my niece & then found out she was pregnant 3 months later. Everything was fine & she actually had a VBAC

I had a c/s with my first. I got PG with my second when he was 15 months old and had my kids exactly 2 years apart. My OB said he would like to see 18 months between births (not pregnancies), so I was fine. I actually avoided a second c/s by having a VBAC.

I had 2 under 2 and both were c-sections. My doctor did not advise any waiting period and I got pregnant a little less than a year after I had DD. Everything went great!

I don't know about everyone but my OB told me at my 6 month postpartum checkup that I should wait 1-2 years before getting pregnant too - I wanted to try at 14-15 months PP and he said that was fine.
I know there are people who don't pay attention to that rule but from what I read and was told- it is a good idea b.c it gives your body time to completely heal from the c-section to reduce the risk of complications like rupture.

My OB said he would like to see 18 months between births (not pregnancies).
Mine said the same thing - he'd like to see 18 months between births. I have a friend who had a c-section and her dr. told her to wait a few months to get PG again. She had baby #2 less than a year after #1 and now she's having #3 a little more than 15 months after #2.  Her dr. said it's fine.

I would really like to try to have a VBAC next time though.

My midwife recommended I wait 18 months before trying again. It took me a long time to concieve with DS so I really want to start trying before that. I am going to discuss it at my next appointment in 2 weeks. I would ideally like to start trying when DS is 1 year old.

Is it more painful the second time around? I'm still feeling so horrible... I couldn't imagine having another one that soon. I'm telling DH I don't even want to try till at least 1 year. I think he wanted them closer in apart, but I didn't think the c-section was a walk in the park at all. Plus now knowing what I know - I want to be a little better prepared for the recovery both in and out of the hospital.

My doc recommended waiting a year, she says it give s the body and uterus time to heal. Her partner recommends 18 months.
