another EBAY/PAYPAL QUESTION!!!

Ok so I put somethings up for sale and they went great. I only have a credit card hooked up and not a bank account. So the buyers pay great then paypal sends me a email saying that you have to be a business or a preieum member to be able to accept credit card payments. Ok so I set up a bank account now do you think there money they sent through came out of there account and into mine because in the paypal email it came up as pending and nothing is showing on my credit card?? Does this make sense and what does everyone else do? I don't hold about $3,000 worth of stuff here like paypal was saying to get one of those accounts!!!Chat Icon so confused!! Hope this makes sense!!

TIA

The amount paid to you should be in your paypal account. If the amount the buyer is pending that probably means they are paying by electronic check or something like that. When the amount clears, you will get a notice from Paypal that the funds are available and to ship your item.

I think after you accept a certain # of credit card payments, they bump you up to a business account which has fees associated with it. There is a way to downgrade your account but you would only be able to accept direct bank or paypal balance transfers as payments for auctions.

Is there a way to put that into my auctions to let people know I will only accept direct bank or paypal balance transfer. i know when I buy something from ebay I have always had it linked to a credit card and no problems. Just confused thats all!

You can put it in your auction details and shipping information box -- just make sure it's clear since a lot of people are not comfortable linking their bank info.

As a buyer, it doesn't matter how you pay. But as a selller, paypal is providing a service so they charge you for it.

(Kind of like with real credit cards -- stores & vendors are charged service fees to accept them).

Denise, I believe you have the personal acct. if credit/debit can't be accepted. When I started doing ebay I believe I started w/the basic but upgraded to the premiere because alot of buyers are using credit/debit. There are fees depending on what the item sells for (just like all the little ebay feesChat Icon ) but I think it's worth it.

Personal Acct.=receiving funds are FREE

Premier/Business Acct.=receiving funds: 1.9% to 2.9% + $0.30USD

hmmm...I think they would only know after their transaction doesn't go through(it's been a while, so I'm not positive on that!)
I don't sell all that much, don't have an ebay store...I maybe sell a couple hundred/month.
As far as the $3000... if you sell $0-$3000 you fall into the STANDARD rate fee(which is 2.9%+$0.30USD per transaction) If you sell OVER $3000, you fall into the merchant rate(anywhere from 1.9% -2.5% according to the amount sold).
I sell something for $20 and paypal's fee is about 0.90(2.9% + .30)

you cant put that in your auction - ebay will pull it they expect if you take paypal to upgrade to a business account and pay the fees - i had 5 auctions pulled for saying i do not accepting credit card payments.
