Another friggin Superbowl post
Something has been bothering me all day...it's not on a lot of news stations around here but I am not sure if its all the talk up north. Anyway, let me throw a disclaimer out there. I am not a football fan, I am not a fan of the steelers nor am I a fan of the seahawks. I have no biased opinions and I honestly don't care one way or the other. However, for those that watched the game...does anyone else think that the refs lost the game for seattle rather than that the steelers had a good game and won? Seems to me that there are TWO calls that could have made this game very different and that in the end the score would have been seahawks 17 steelers 14.

Yes, I think the refs calls had a lot to do with the Seahawks losing. The call on pass interference was hardly interference and the holding call was completely unfair. The refs also didn't call a blantant holding penalty on the Steelers.

Re: Another friggin Superbowl post
IMO, the game was HORRIBLY referreed. Two plays stick out in my mind
1. 1st quarter: Seattle gets a touchdown called back on a pass interference call. That was CLEARLY not pass interference. He was pushing off on the guy, something that happens all the time.
2. 2nd Quarter: The Rothlesberger touchdown was NOT a touch down. The sad part is that they reviewed the play and you could CLEARLY see that the ball was NOWHERE near the line. They said that the ref who reviewed it, only reversed his calls 23% of the time.
So, if the refs hadn't screwed Seattle on those 2 plays, it would have been 17-14 Seattle.
But, hey, a win is a win. Not the Steelers fault, it's the NFL's job to have competent officials.

Those are the exact two plays that stand out in my mind. I feel so bad when an underdog (or anyone for that matter) losses like that. I would rather get creamed fairly then screwed closely.

I definitely agree with the first point. There's no way that was offensive pass interference. However, to me, it looked like Roethlesberger broke the plane on the touchdown call.
I think there were several terrible calls in 1 series: the holding call where Seatlle would've ended up at the 1 yard line, the failure to call the horsecollar tackle, the failure to call the Steelers offsides, and the block below the waist call against Hasselback. In the 4th quarter, the play clock ran out before the Steelers called a time out yet the referees missed it.
I still think the Steelers probably would've won. The Seahakws had too many dropped passes, and didn't manage their time well, especially towards the end of each half. IMO, the Steelers looked better overall. However, it definitely could've been a closer game.

Totally agree. Definitely was not pass interference.

Actually... the ball did touch the very edge of the white line. It happened while Ben was in the air. You couldn't see the ball because his arm was covering the front part of it. But there was enough of the ball "missing" to know that it did barely nip the white line.
