Another grouchy old man whacks a kid
But I think think this one is worse. Seems the stories are conflicting... SMACK

Re: Another grouchy old man whacks a kid
My gut tells me the old man is right this time and the mom is trying to take advantage of the situation by saying it was worse than it was.

In what skewered universe does this man think he could even justify hitting the kid in the butt? Even if the kid hit him, he is an adult. You don't hit the kid back!!

My gut tells me the old man is right this time and the mom is trying to take advantage of the situation by saying it was worse than it was. You know what? I'm the first to advocate for a child on the spectrum, but this story just does not add up. I also have a gut feeling that it went the way the man said - he was hit, and he swatted towards his butt as an instinct. I don't know why... I just feel that there was chaos between the 2 kids having meltdowns (and the 4 year old with them too ) that I think it became a confusing mess for everyone.
I am 100% for spreading awareness and think it is important for people to know what to do if there is an individual with autism melting down in a community setting, but I will say this - getting hit by a big kid (even a 7 year old) can be startling to anyone - especially to an old man who may not understand. I have been hit, beaten up, flung up against walls and across the room - no joke. I was even hit and kicked a few times in my belly when pregnant - and each time it is startling. I keep my cool - you would never know I was even touched, but to an old man, he might react first and think later in that situation. Not that it's ok, but its human nature....

I tend to agree with this also - especially because the man said he knows he didn't hit the boy in the face and cause his nose to bleed. The mother didn't come running over to the boy, she stood there 15 feet away and said she was going to call the police. I'm sure if her son's nose was bloody, she would've been over there in a heartbeat.
