I was wondering this as well. I was too nervous to remember all the instructions my doctor told me. I started provera yesterday to bring on my period in order to have the test done. What day of your cycle do you call to schedule the test? You start the antibiotics the day before the test right? Also, what is the beta test that someone else mentioned right before hand?? TIA!

YOu need to take antibiotics to ensure you do not get an infection from the procedure. I believe I started taking mine two days before the procedure. Call to schedule the appt on the first day of AF.

Susan said it perfectly- my antibiotic is doxycycline - I have to take 8 of them (2 a day) and started 2 days before the procedure.
The day of the procedure I popped motrins 2 hours before and then 1 hour before

Ironically enough that is the antibiotic I am taking for the Ureaplasma..I just finished them..When I call to schedule my appointment should I ask them..or do I call my obgyn and ask for a prescription??

For the HSG I called the place (Nassau Radiologic Group) and made the appt (it was the first day of AF). My dr. gave me the prescription for the antibiotic.
Also you will need a beta test done before the HSG, check if your dr. does that or if you need a prescription to get that done at a Quest lab, etc. I was told to get it done about 3 days before the HSG

I would go to Nassau Radiology too...I guess I will call my obgyn when I have an appointment and ask about the prescription..she never said anything about that to me..but she did say to go in for a blood test...

Some drs give you antibiotics before the HSG. I had mine done on cd9. My dr told me to have it done between cd7 and 9.

Ask your OB/GYN for a prescription of doxycycline, pop some painkillers beforehand (even if they tell you not to), and you'll be fine. GL!
