Another international travel question
If check stuff at the gate like the stroller do they give it back to you at the end of the flight so you have it for the connecting flight OR do they just transfer it to the next flight?
I hope this doesn't sound silly but I really have no idea how any of this works and my mom already thinks I am nuts for wanting to bring the carseats and strollers.

Do you mean in your connection flight?
I can't remember whether you get your luggage back and have to recheck them. I don't think so! So that mean you would not get the stroller either.
What I would do is get a small umbrella stroller and ask to take in the plane with you. They fold very small and can go in the overbin compartment or you can give it to the flight attendant. This one you will be sure to have at the end of the flight.

Thank you..all this flight stuff is so confusing to me. I had planed on taking my sit n stand but I can't check that at the gate I don't think. The airline website said only umbrella strollers which I have (the pliko) but I know DS is going to get tired. Maybe that is a good thing

Re: Another international travel question
You got me thinking. Since you are going to Germany 1st (right?) and it's not the same country you will end up, I think you don't get your luggage back.
But when I used to fly to the US from Europe and it was not my final destination I had to get my luggage back, go through Customs and recheck my luggage.
I think because you are going to Croatia and not Germany, you won't need to re-check your luggage.
Maybe you should post on the Travel board and post a link on the NFR board. I am sure there are frequent travellers there who have done this.

Re: Another international travel question
While you don't get your luggage back that is checked at the counter - I thought (but could be wrong) that you do get stuff you gate check back - but I think someone told me that you can gate check it all the way thru - but I would be worried about that in case it doesn't make it - I would just get your stroller back and walk it to the next gate, you might want it anyway b.c won't it be easier to get to the next gate if you have it?

Re: Another international travel question
I'm not positive but I thought you'd get back your gate checked items and you would have to bring them to the next gate. As far as bringing the sit and stand, I've never seen it folded up but I have brought my Graco Quattro twice and gate checked it with no problem and that thing is huge!

Re: Another international travel question
If you are changing planes, you will get your gate checked items back. At the gate, they don't know you have a connecting flight.

FYI: ANY strollers are put in the belly- regardless of size.
When you get to the airplane with your stroller- make sure you tell them you want the stroller to come up to the plane at your connecting city.
Luggage checked at the counter will go to your final destination- there should be no need to get luggage and then recheck it.

Re: Another international travel question
You are stressing me out thinking about my trip to Italy. I have buried it in the back of my mind and I don't want to think about it for another month.
I am going to add all of these questions to my notebook though - so that I can look back when I am in the right frame of mind!
When are you going anway?

Re: Another international travel question
The last time I flew home I was annoyed because my pushchair had to be collected at the baggage check at JFK, when I flew back into Manchester, it was waiting at the gate...
Even though BA told me that it would be at the gate at JFK, it wasn't.

The first week of August (before the 5th) and coming back the first week of Sept. I know once Jack's party is done with you will help out with the questioning too
