Another JHS/keratin question, need help deciding

I had JHS 2 years ago and I loved it. Other than my bangs, which were just too straight, the rest of the hair being so straight I liked. And I loved that I didn't have to do anything to it.

My hair grows pretty slow so I obviously have tons of regrowth but I still have JHS on 4 inches at the bottom.

I was reading the reviews here about the keratin and it sounds great. But then I was reading more and it sounds like I will have to blow out my hair. I kind of liked having to do nothing. I am afraid of getting it and hating having to blow it out. With the JHS, it was the first time it felt so easy to not have to work on my hair.

But I'm sort of worried about getting JHS and them frying the hair with the JHS still in it and that the keratin might be better for my hair. But again, I really would like to not have to do it all the time.

So what do I do?? I have 2 appts booked for later this week - one at La Cole in Seaford and the other at New Mode in Bethpage and I need to cancel one and go through with the other.

why not just get JHS and leave your bangs out?

I have never had keratin and never will- my hair dries like this with JHS - I have been getting it done twice a year for 7 years with out issue- so IMO if it's not broken- don't fix it

I have my first appointment for JHS at New Mode next week. I opted for JHS over Brazilian Keratin because although JHS uses chemicals which could be damaging to hair, Brazilian Keratin uses formaldehyde which is a carcinogen. That just scares me. Plus, from what I hear, you do have to still blow dry your hair to get it straight, it isn't wash and go.

I haven't had JHS yet so I can't speak from experience, but that's the option I'm going with!

I may be no help since I haven't gotten either one yet. But I am planing on it very soon. I will pick the JHS because I don't want to have to blow it out I want to wash and go, but have it be straight.

if you like JHS and don't want to have to worry about blow drying it, then maybe you should stick with it. I wanted the keratin b/c it is a coating and doesnt' damage your hair as much as the chemicals in JHS. I also don't mind my hair being curly every once in awhile, so I liked the idea of being to still have it either way. To blow dry for 5 minutes wasn't that big of a deal for me b/c it's so much quicker than it used to be. And it comes out just as straight as JHS, IMO! And no FRIZZ!!Chat Icon

I think it's so funny that most hair stylist that don't do JHS say this

yet when I get my hair cut at places like Nu Best or Maximus- these same stylist can't even tell my hair has been straighten

and not just once either- at least 12 times over the last 7 years

my hair is silky - has shine and the best part- dries pin straigh with no frizz

(this pic is 6 weeks after my last treatment- and it rained all day that day)

As for JHS being "better" for your hair thats a complete misconception..JHS is actually a uses much much harsher chemicals than the Brazilian, think about it, it changes the complete texture of your hair it has to be harsh....I did JHS two years ago and it just finished growing out, I personally hated it, I mean my hair was silky and straight but wayyyy tooo flat and I hate my hair flat so I'm doing the brazilian at la cole this Saturday, I heard you still have the body so we'll see....

My very good friend is a hairdresser, and she advised me not to get japanese, even though i really wanted it.
She did the brazilian on me, and i love it, she did an amazing job, i can't wait til i wash it and see how it comes out.

I think ultimately u need to decide what is best for you.

i just wonder why people complain there hair is so flat after JHS, maybe its becuase I have thick hair but once I wash it the first time my hair gets its body back, minus the curls.

I prefer JHS, I dont want my hair to be in its natural form ever again...my hair is super duper tight curls.

And even in the rain we have been getting lately my re-growth has stayed straight....its been 3 months.

I'd recommend JHS over BKT anyday, been doing it for 5 years...plus BKT costs so much more and its not even permanant!

Oh and they wont put the soltuion on the parts that are already JHS so those 4inches on the bottom dont worry about it, just dont forget to tell them

I don't get it either- I used to spend a hour trying to make it flat before-

and now I am out the door in 30 minutes

it's a dream come true

Thanks for the replies.

I got the JHS at New Mode. I decided to go with what I know...I will not sit and blow out my hair, even if it's a fraction of the usual time. I just don't have the time with the kids schedules. I'm still in the no wash period so it feels so flat and yucky but I can wash it Sat AM.

It was my first time at New Mode and while I was happy it was closer to my house than Queens, it was $270! And then I wanted the bottom trimmed and she ended up charging me $30. I was truly Chat Icon Chat Icon bc she literally just trimmed the bottom. Then I came home and looked it over and it was a really bad cut. It was so uneven! I was pizzed. I went back today and she didn't even get how it was uneven so I asked for the money back for the cut which, to her credit, she did refund it to me. I did not want her to continue to cut my hair when she didn't even understand how it was uneven. The person sitting next to me was boggled too, it was so obvious how uneven it was. The JHS came out great though so once I get it trimmed elsewhere I am happy.

I was told by a friend who's a hairdresser that with the keratn, the chemicals are carcinogens and if you can smell them in the shower, you're ingesting them. I wn't do it.

I'm glad you were happy with the JHS!! I am going to New Mode on Tuesday. Who did yours? My appointment is with Kim. Thanks for the warning... I won't ask for a trim!

i've had something similar to JHS and i smelled chemicals with that. I didn't smell anything with the brazilian. it's just a coating on your hair, not as harsh a chemical as JHS.
