Another lettuce washing question!

If you buy the romaine heads or any head of lettuce, really, and use the salad spinner, which do you do?

Wash the leaves as a whole or cut into pieces and then wash the pieces.

Re: Another lettuce washing question!

It really depends for me. MOST of the time I tear the leaves into pieces (I don't cut lettuce as a norm) then soak and spin. But if I am trying to make a fancy presentation I will often tear from the bottom for a whole leaf. then I soak and pat dry rather than use the spinner.

I tear it as it goes into the spinner before rinsing and spinning..I heart the salad spinner-lettuce stays better, longer...and...we save money since a head of lettuce (of any kind) is cheaper than the bagged...
