Another life question
with all these posts about being proud and where are you in your life. I have a question for anyone that went back to school for anything, a certificate, a BS/BA, masters, etc.
What or who was the driving force? Was it for career advancement, personal goal? Change of careers?
I was sick of feeling like the bug splattered on the windshield. so for it was about wanting to be more. I felt a degree would make me "stand up straighter" if that makes sense. It does, but that was more of something I needed to fill for my ownself. As well as for professinal advancement
Anyone else want to share?

Re: Another life question
I'm going back to school because I realized that I have a wonderful opportunity that my parents didn't. And not taking advantage makes me feel ungrateful. I need to stop making excuses and just do it. My mom would love to be me at 26...no kids, happily married, new job, new house, blessed life. So I'm doing this for me because I have to. Enough putting life on hold. And for mom, because she lives vicariously through me a little bit.
My brother went back to school (married 12 years, 2 kids), my sister went back to school (married 7 years, 3 kids) and I'm going back to school (start next month)...it's never too late. And I'd love to get it out of the way before the babies come.
On another note, boy am I feeling "chatty" today!

Re: Another life question
i think for me it was just a personal drive to accomplish what i wanted... And just to be more....
But of course the biggest drive was for more $$ and having more doors available to me

SAME here!
I loved my previous degree choices...BUT the pickings job wise were slim and I would have to go to school for a long time, pay a lot of oney..to "hope" to find a good job.
Going back for nursing means I can pick where I want to work almost because the opportunities are endless for where and what hours etc...
for me...$$$ had nothing to do with it. I would have made a LOT more money in the school psychology field I was previously studying...

Re: Another life question
I did really well in college and enjoyed being a student. I figured I would do really well in Grad School as well...and I did!
