Another LIPA post - just got my bill . Updated in first post!
$450!!!! DH is going to freak out!
Ok - so after looking at the bill more closely, apparently we forgot to oay last months bill  Ooops!! So it's for 2 months - not bad...whew!

Do the balanced billing that way it doesnt seem like such a hit. Mine is about $215/mo. and our houses are about the same size.

Wow, my BB with an 1800 sqft house, window a/c and pool pump is $108 a month. I couldn't imagine a $400+ bill!

how is that possible? if you're suddenly using a lot more energy, LIPA adjusts your bill throughout the year. they check the meters every other month.
also, if you owe them money, about 3 months before the end of the year they start adding $ to your bill - or subtracting if you over-paid. I have never paid a huge lump sum at the end of the year.

We also do balanced billing and our bill is 202$ a month.
ETA: at the end of the year we usually are credited a small amount, we've never owed

We don't do balanced billing on anything - oil, electric, water...I'd rather just pay what I owe that month.
It all ends up the same, because what we don't spend in electric in the winter we spend in oil and vice versa.

strange... one year I think I was $100 over, so in Oct. they started tacking on $30 or so a month to the regular bill. and then the last bill was the most, but only by a few bucks.

Our bill went up $15 for July and August with balanced billing. It will most likely (always does) go back to what it was or maybe $1 or $2 more per month.

I agree. LIPA is VERY quick to adjust your balanced billing if you are using more than they estimated. I have never ended the year owing, I always get a small amount off of the last bill.
