I will say it, I would have judged.

2 weeks is really young to be out with a nanny. I can see someone napping and a nanny at home with the baby.
But I have also met a ton of nannies while being a sahm, good bad and ugly.

2 weeks old, I was nursing a lot, making sure my baby was comfortable. The baby was not out at a park with a non family member.

To Janice....congratulations on being at Church with your baby when your son was 5 weeks old. That's awesome, really. And you were in classes 7 days after a c-section WITH your child? Unbelievable!!!! Are you Super Woman? I wish I could be like you!!!

I picked my nose by myself after a C-Section when DD was 1 day old! I didn't think I could do it, but I have learned that a new mom can accomplish absolutely anything without any help if we put our minds to it!

You would take a look at the outfit the kid was wearing and diaper bag that was being used? I'm no expert but your posts scream JEALOUSY!!!!!!!

That's not fair.....Chat Icon

I might not agree with someone, but an attack like that isn't necessary

I agree!!! Your response, or I should say attack, against Janice was totally inappropriate and uncalled for. Everyone is entitled to express their opinion, but that wasn't an opinion. That was just you being plain old nasty to be honest Chat Icon

ETA: And 6 pages later, seriously who the fluck cares that the baby was at the park????

if it's a beautiful day, why not take the baby out instead of everyone sitting in the house wasting the day? I don't understand

I am so tired of this...I don't care if your 3 hour old baby is outside. I don't care if you nap all day long and a nanny is rocking your baby in the nursery.
All I said was I am not comfortable with a non fam member taking the baby out at 2 weeks old! The baby is still so new. If others are fine with that, then great.
Take your baby out on a nice day, of course, mine was out right away.

Maybe the baby was bordering on Jaundiced and needed to be in the sun, while the mom had terrible eczema and couldn't be anywhere near the sun Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Who cares?

I mean, i'll admit that i'm pretty oblivious in general, but i never get how people always notice these things. I doubt that it would even phase me. I'm usually too obsessed with my own kid to check out what everyone else is doing. And, Yes, that makes me better than (the "generally speaking") You Chat Icon Chat Icon

Janice is a good egg!

LIF can really be screwed up. I'm not that familiar with Janice, but what I am familiar with is my need to express my opinion. I didn't agree with her. Period.

you have a very 'interesting' way of expressing your opinion... them be daggers spewed from your mouth.

I would have been thinking the same thing and for me it would have been a different story if the baby were with a grandmother or other family member.

And what diagnostic super power is it that you're using to know if it's a grandmother or other family member?? (Think interracial marriages, step-parents, etc.)

I just don't get it....For me, regardless of whether the child was with a family member or a nanny, it was someone the parents entrusted the care of their child to. Perhaps because they were wealthy enough to do so, perhaps because they don't have any family around so they needed help for when the mother/father need a break, or have a doctor's check-up appointment....As long as the child is safe and happy, it isn't my place to judge WHO took them for a walk...

Really??? "diagnostic super power" Chat Icon its this kind of comment that makes an adult discussion go south on this board! The OP said nanny (or at least that's what I remembered), so I assumed she knew it was a nanny!

I'm sorry that my attempt at sarcastic humor (colored by DD's incessant need to watch Team UmiZoomi) made you Chat Icon ....Guess sarcasm isn't for everyone...

The point I was trying to make is that your post said you'd be okay if it was a family member...but there is no way to know just by looking at a person with a baby if they are or are not a member of that baby's family...in fact, the "nanny" (as a pp alluded to) may have even BEEN a family member or the baby's mother!

I don't think that IS effed up!! I mean, so what?? How many times do we see Mommies on here say they are down on their looks and the FIRST thing that most say is "have a spa day, or a day to yourself"

Re: Another "not to judge"....

My first thought is - who cares?

Seriously, I don't care who is watching someone else's kid as long as the kid is being watched. I have my hands full with my "spirited" 8 month old who is teething horribly!

Re: Another "not to judge"....

I was reading through this post and thought I would reply just for the fact that when I had my first daughter I was in labor at the hospital for three days, I was very ill, and unfortunately my daughter was released from the hospital and I was not, my husband had to work so my mother and his took care of our little girl, when I came home two weeks later I was very weak and had a long recovery ahead, I am greatful to those who were there to help, with my husband working I could not have been able to take care of my baby alone. so my advice is do not assume, you do not know what is going on in people's lives, you do not know.

I disagree

But then again, my DS didn't have a 7 day check up and I have no clue why they would even DO that...sooo....to each his/her own!

I have no idea why they had a 7 day check up, I don't really remember , this was when I was 21 , so few years back. All I know is that I had just started working for them as a part time sitter for an older kid, just 3 days a week, they did have a baby nurse , but mom asked me to take the baby to the dr's appointment...

As a side note...maybe the baby was adopted and it was the mother all along!!! I mean think about how many inter-racial adoptions there are now-a-days! I would be moritified if people judged me for taking care of my own baby just because I adopted.

WOW, we just posted the same thing at the same time Chat Icon

Great minds think alike! i am surprised no one else brought this up before us!

Actually I did- when I said I thought she was "profiling" the nanny because she was of caribbean decent. I don't see why she "has" to be the nanny. I just thought that was a little assuming.
