another post regarding baby bris/circumcision
DH just spoke to a mohel that our rabbi and 2 other people recommended. He told DH that the bris can be done one of 2 ways:
1. The mohel does the circumcision.
2. The father of the child can have the honor of making the cut, and it is considered to be an honor. The mohel talks the father through the whole thing (he is right there).
DH is not interested in doing it. We have made many jokes about it but I really think he should do it!

Traditionally the father IS supposed to do it. But I think that a mohel does it because fathers have been too squeamish. Some mohels will explain this to the people at the bris and actually ASK the father to give permission to perform the actual circumcision. I have never seen a person who is not a mohel or a surgeon do it and I wouldn't trust anyone other than those two professions. JMO.

I just told DH that you are on his side!!!! Of course I am really okay with him not doing it. I do think that it would all turn out exactly the same if DH did the cutting with the guidance from the mohel but I have to understand not taking any chances with a baby's pp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
