Another question
I'm sorry I'm bombarding you ladies... my mind is racing a million miles a minute.
My RE recommended that I take 5 days off from work - 2 days afte rretrieval and 2 days after transfer.
What did you do? I plan on taking the days off, and asked my supervisor if I can just work from home a few of the days, which he agreed to, but I'm wondering if doing a full 5 days of rest is overkill.

Re: Another question
Please don't worry about all the questions! That's what this place is for...
I took off just the day of ER and the day of ET. Many suggest taking it easy after ET. And after ER, it depends on how you feel. Some women feel sore and bloated.
If you have the chance to work fro home without losing the sick days, that's terrific!

Re: Another question
IMO, the 2 days after retrieval are unnecessary

Re: Another question
I took day of retrieval and day of transfer, that's it.
The day after retrieval you're sore, but its not unbearable. And honestly, I don't believe that it makes a difference one way or the other if you're doing stuff after transfer or not. IMO, if its going to take, its going to take.
Lots of luck!!! All the planning is getting exciting, right?

Re: Another question
I only took off the day of retrieval and the following day just to rest. I think my transfer was on Sat and I spent the w/e in bed.

Re: Another question
I've only taken the day of retrieval off and gone back to work the next day. Day of transfer, I've reached the point where I go for the transfer and then go about my business for the rest of the day. When I got PG, I went for transfer, helped my sister take some bunnies to a buyer, went shopping, out to dinner and the movies.....all in one day.
As Lauren said, if it's going to work it's going to work.

Re: Another question
Enough with the questions!!!
JK
Every doctor is different as far as post procedure rest. I've heard from different people that their different doctors have told them everything from it's ok to go back to work after transfer to a weeks bed rest after transfer!!! You should do what you feel comfortable with and what you are able to do.
For the retrievals, it really depends on when you go in. If you go early in the am, I don't see any reason why you can't go to work the next day. However, one time I had a late retreival and I was still kind of out of it the next day so I took off.
For the transfers, first cycle, my RE had me lay down for 30 minutes and then wheeled out of his clinic in a wheel chair. I was told to lay in the back seat of the car and to go right to bed when I got home for at least 24 hours of strict bedrest. But hey, it worked. Not sure if it had anything to do with this though.
Second and third cycles, the RE said I could go back to work after the transfer if I wanted to.

Re: Another question
First IVF, I took the day of and the day after retrieval. Not because my Dr. told me to (well the day of, yes!), but because I was still a little uncomfortable and groggy the next day. My Dr. also didn't say it was necessary to take the day after transfer off, but my husband insisted that I take two days and stay off my feet, which is what I did.
2nd IVF, I worked from home the day after the retrieval, and took the day after my transfer off as well. I was going to take that day anyway since it was Memorial Day Weekend and I usually always take that Friday off.
ETA: I went to work the morning of my transfer as we didn't know if that would be the day or not. They call me on Day 3 to let me know if it's that day or a 5 day transfer. Since my RE practice didn't start transfer until 2:00pm, I would work in the morning and wait for the phone call.

Re: Another question
I usually take the day of ER and the next day off...sometimes I get pretty crampy and just want to relax
As for tx, just that day...I've done "bed rest" and its made no difference

No, it's more like total dread and panic!
Thanks ladies... I'm also in the camp that believes if it will happen, it will happen, and sitting in bed for 5 days won't make a difference. But DH is a freak and thinks I need to lay on the bed without moving for 5 days straight I get ancy just taking one day off from work, I cannot see myself sitting on my arse for 5 days, so we'll just see about that...

Mine was the same way, even after the RE told him it doesn't make a difference. The 2nd time around, I took it easy for a full day (to appease him), and then we went away for the weekend, lots of walking, went to a concert. Although, I'll admit, it was nice having him wait on me hand and foot!!!

For transfer, I took off the day of, and the 2 days after. Honestly by the 3rd day I was bored and thought I could have been at work.
