Another question from a pregger! Moniter related
If any of you have experience with either the angelcare or the summer video...Im torn between deciding on the two. Any recommendations? I registered for both, didnt get either...cant afford both. Is one choice the only moniter you will need? How is the reception? Thanks so much!

I had Angel Care - I think thats the standard one that most have used. I was happy with it.
I'll be honest though - Cailen never slept, so I rarely used it.
It was like listening to the screaming and crying station most of the time!

I could not live without the Summer monitor. So many times I 'check' on him by looking at the video. It still helps now at 13 months.
But we also got the Angelcare when he started flipping on his belly, and sleeping face down in the mattress. It helps ME sleep.
BTW: We had the Angelcare when he was first born, but it couldn't be used in the bassinet, so we returned it. Then we bought it again around 5 months.

I LOVE the summer handheld video monitor!!! It is one of my #1 baby purchases. I 100% recommend it. My understanding of the angelcare is that it detects if the baby stops breathing so I would guess you could get both and they would not be redundant. Not sure if that is true though.

Without a doubt the video monitor. I only used the angel care the first three months - once they start moving around it's hard to use and will go off.
I still use the video monitor today (15 months later) and will be using it for years!!!

I have both, and couldnt live without either. The angelcare monitor monitors his breathing, and with the summer handheld, I can see what hes doing at all times. Register for both!
ETA: I used the angelcare in a bassinet, as well as in a pack and play. All we had to do in the bassinet was cut a small hole in the bottom part (you dont see it, its covered by the mattress)

ETA: (again) I still use both and my son is 16 months. I know some people had problems with their angelcare when there baby moves around, but my son is all over his crib, and only twice in the beginning did we have it go off (this is when we had to work on the settings)

Re: Another question from a pregger! Moniter related
I have the angelcare monitor. I am soooo glad we registered for this one because I wouldn't be able to sleep without it! My DS was in his crib immediately (no bassinet) so this wasn't a problem for us. Now that he rolls over and sleeps on his belly with his face down in the mattress it is a lifesaver. I know the video works for others but I don't understand why.. can you see that they are breathing? And when you are sleeping there is no alarm if the baby stops breathing. I like the security the angelcare provides - that I know I can sleep and the alarm wil wake me g-d forbid anything should happen. He moves all over the crib now too and no false alarms yet! I think when he is older (like pulling himself up, trying to climb out of the crib) thats when I will go out and buy a video monitor.

Same here. I love it. It's great because when DS fusses during the night we can just look at the monitor to see if he's just adjusting himself or needs us.

same here, absolutely love it. DH and I are watching DD in her crib, betting on whether or not she's going to fall back to sleep or not.

Re: Another question from a pregger! Moniter related
I recommend Summer... we did have some problems with our unit but the customer service was fabulous. They warranty it for a year and will replace it free of charge if you have any problems with it.
We had problems with our first, they replaced it... almost a year after that we had problems with our second and they replaced that one too. The new one is now under a new 1 year warranty!!
