Another reason I hate that DH works Saturdays

DH always works Saturdays. He is a manager of a retail store, so he has no choice.
I overheard some moms talking today about taking kids to soccer, baseball, etc. and how the mom went with some kids and dad went with others.
We have 2 kids which we want to get involved in a sports and activities, but I got so upset thinking that I will have to do it all myself (if I can).

Ughh, just a sad vent

Hope this will make you feel better - my son is in baseball and his games are only on weekedays.

My sister had 3 kids. My BIL works overnights so when he gets home in the morning he generally goes to sleep. She is able to juggle all three kids activities pretty good. At one point all three were in soccer, my nephews were in karate, and my niece was in dance all on the weekends and she was able to do it. I'm sure you will be fine.

I know exactly how you feel. JT works weekends, too, so we will be faced with the same exact situation someday. It sucks. I wish I had a better response, but I really do feel for you. I'll tell ya what, when Chase gets bigger, one of us will take the girls and the other one will take the boys and we'll be each other's Saturday spouse

and now he has decided to go back to school...so days off he is in class.

I dont know how old your kids are or if your DH has a day off during the week but we just signed up DS for Lil Sluggers and its on a weekday, they have several weekdays to choose from.

Plus they also have Soccer Tots and Hoopsters on weekdays.....is it possible for your DH to do one of those?

ETA - DH works in a bank, so he works most Saturdays, so I feel your pain!

My DH is in retail too...it sux! Saturday is my least favorite day of the week I feel your pain.

i just wanted to say your not alone... my dh is in retail and works 6 days a week in westchester he works EVERY sat AND sunday so with the commute its a good 14 hr day. its awful he misses every family function, every holiday i do it ALL alone. when theres seomthing big on a sunday he can request off BUT he loses his extra pay and unfortunitely we need it so theres not much of an option. some days its ok and some days its just awful.

That does stink. Can any other family members help out when the time comes so you're not doing it all alone?

I hear ya! We barely get to sign up for anything because both of our schedules vary week to week. If I could find an organized activity that allows me to pick a different time and a different day every week, I'd give them money in a heartbeat. Kind of hard to tell someone "Well, I can do early Tuesday this week, then late Thursday the next week, then Sunday afternoon the week after that." I'd give anything for either one of us to be on a set schedule. Damn 24 hour jobs.

i have the same situation - but dave's not a manager - he's just a peon in an appliance store..
