another stupid running question
How do you breathe? LOL. I am in the middle of couch to 5k and the other day did a half a mile, however, I was way out of breath and the only reason I stopped was because I couldn't breathe! I feel like if I breathe through my nose I don't get good enough air. Then if I breathe through my mouth I feel like I can't catch a breath. I know stopping myself is 90% in my mind but I would really like to know. I am very out of shape too so that is obviously contributing!

I have the same problem. I have tried breathing a bunch of different ways (sounds ridiculous LOL). I have found the best way for ME is to take a deep breath in through my nose and mouth, and then blow out twice quickly. I'm sure its probably not what is recommended, but it works for me

I breathe in through both my nose and mouth at the same time. My mouth kind of hangs open a little, if that makes any sense.
The most likely reason you are out of breath though is that you are going too fast. Slow down and see what happens.

this. You want to get the most oxygen you can - so open up all of your airways. It took me a while to figure out how to do both, but now it's second nature. If you can only do one - breathe through your mouth.
