Another tipping question!

So the landscaper has had 4-5 men here for the past week working on our new patio. These guys aren't landscapers in the sense where they cut lawns, but are more skilled in masonry, etc..

DH and I intend to tip them before they leave today. I know most will think we're crazy and shouldn't tip, but DH and I can be ball busters and pretty picky, so they kind of earned it. (Plus this job was underbid thanks to my DH's ball-bustin', so we know we got a good deal.)

Is $100 each too much? That's what I wanted to give initially, but DH said $50 each. I tend to be an overtipper, but I feel like $50 is too little.

What do you guys think?

Re: Another tipping question!

I think $50-75 would be appropriate. Did you feed them or provide them with water or drinks while they were working?

Just a bunch of drinks during the day each day that they were here.

Re: Another tipping question!

this is a good question, I have workers here too since last friday till this friday- however we have been buying them drinks and food everyday so do we have to tip too?

I know in the past I said I wouldnt feed too but they are doing such an exceptional job I want to keep the momentum for them on a full stomach.

I ended up giving them $50 each, but I should add that we don't tip every person that does work on our home. It's a case by case situation.

These guys were also really good with my DD. She loved watching them and they were constantly interacting with her through the doors and window. They never just ignored her. I think that's what sucked me in. Chat Icon
