Another vaccination post...
Who is going to get the vaccines as scheduled? I got Caiden's done when they were suppose to and never thought twice about it?

Re: Another vaccination post...
So far he has been on schedule depending how many he gets at 12 month visit I might move his MMR to 18 months. So far he has anywhere from 3 to 4 shots at a time.

Re: Another vaccination post...
I only give two shots at a time. I go more often that other moms though so we are only a little behind schedule. I am also pushing the MMR shot off as long as I can.

SO far, I go as scheduled, DD gets 4 shots an appt. I am not sure what we are going to do with MMR, most likely we get it as scheduled as well.

Re: Another vaccination post...
We didn't start until 5 months (would have waited longer if we weren't traveling out of the country). She only got 1 shot per visit, now I will allow 2 if she had no previous reactions. I can't find mercury free flu vaccine so until I can she won't get that. I will be delaying MMR and chicken pox more than likely until 24 months or older and I will spit the MMR up to separate doses. While I think it's important to vaccinate I do not agree with the schedule. Oh and we did not allow her to receive hep B in the hospital, she doesn't get that at all and won't until she has the risk of contracting this disease. I did a lot of reading and this is what DH and I feel comfortable with. DH was actually more in favor of not vaccinating at all but being a health care professional I feel there are definitely benefits to vaccinating.

Re: Another vaccination post...
my ped's schedule is 2 shots every month instead of 4 shots every 2 months. He feels like 4 at once is too much for them. I like this plan! I think. We start in a few weeks...

Re: Another vaccination post...
Just a question -- can you delay vaccines if your child is in day care? Is it a bad idea since they are more "at-risk" in this type of environment?

My Dr. feels the same way.
May I ask what is it about the MMR vaccine as opposed to the other ones that many of you like to delay it?

Re: Another vaccination post...
I don't know what to do about the rest of Becky's shots. She has had SUCH a bad reaction to her shots so far (she's 8 months) and the reactions keep getting worse. Last time she was running a HIGH fever and projectile vomiting, in addition to HUGE purple welts on her legs where she got the shots. The doc says "no problem," but I don't know. I want to delay, but don't know how to talk to the doctor about it without seeming over-anxious.

MMR Has been linked to Autism in children if given before the age 18 months.

MMR Has been linked to Autism in children if given before the age 18 months.
This is so not true. The link to autism was "thought" to be from the themerisol found in the vaccine. Studies showed there was no link there either. Regardless, themerisol was removed from the MMR vaccine to be on the safe side.
There is NO study that proves there to be a link to autism and vaccines. Many people believe there is a link because symptoms of autism often become obvious at around the time these vaccines are given.
