Another work vent re: BF'ing!
I am so upset right now. You know the BF'ing issues I've been having here at work, well my supervisor just came to tell me to tell me that they're hiring a P/T temp person to come in to help out with stuff and to cover for me when I go to lunch at the front desk since they're just too busy to come up here to relieve me. The problem is that she will be here from 8:30am-1:00pm so I HAVE to return from lunch no later than 1:00pm. I don't leave to go nurse Connor until around 1:00pm and they know that! I tried explaining to her on how the BF'ing works and she didn't care. I told her that I HAVE to nurse him at lunchtime because I don't pump enough as it is for the other bottles I need that I'm already pumping for so I have to nurse him during lunch and I have to go by his eating schedule on when to go feed him. I also told her that I can't afford to buy formula since my DH is not working. I also don't want to supplement his bottles during the day anyway. (I didn't say that to her though) She goes on to tell me to look into the cost of buying formula because that's when the P/T person will be here until and that there is no one else to cover the front. TALK ABOUT BEING ANGRY!!! I can't really make Connor eat at specific times! We have some what of a schedule going on, but when he's hungry he's hungry. ***!!! They just keep changing all the rules around here when they feel like it. My position has changed so much since I started here over 2 years ago. They just don't care AT ALL! Can they really make me go before 1:00pm??? I just can't pump at lunch. Oh, she also said to me, well can't you pump at night too??? I already do!!! AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!! I HATE IT HERE!!!
Ok, vent over, thanks for listening!

My mom is an admin asst for a university here on LI and I know that her union just requires she's given an hour for lunch, her boss can say when it is.
You should go to your union rep and see what they say. It may be against the law there for them to force you to skip his feeding. Not sure how that works.....
