Antidepressants/Anti-Anxiety Meds
I am curious to know which ones some of you have been on and how you reacted to them. I have been on lexapro for a long time and sometimes I feel like I need to switch it up--like it's not "working" anymore. It's the only anti-depressant I've ever been on. I'm curious about Zoloft & Cymbalta. You can FM if you don't want to post about it here.

Re: Antidepressants/Anti-Anxiety Meds
I've been on both cymbalta and zoloft. I had the absolute worst experience of my life on cymbalta. It caused severe pain for me and if I didn't take it exactly on time one day, I would be debilitated for the entire day with nausea and a migraine. In fact, I was in so much constant pain that I had to see a neurologist. This past summer I came off of cymbalta and it caused me the most immense depression, anxiety and pain I have ever experienced in my life. I found a website dedicated to people experiencing pain and suffering from cymbalta. It scared me just how many other people were going through the same thing. Please research it before thinking about taking it. This past September I started zoloft and I cannot even begin to tell you how great I feel. I take it for my anxiety and I have no side effects whatsoever. I honestly feel fabulous on it. If you have any other questions, please let me know. The website I was talking about that's dedicated to cymbalta issues is www.cymbaltawithdrawal.com Check it out if your considering taking cymbalta.

I have heard they are all difficult to come off no? Lexapro has been terrible for me to come off. Is zoloft different?

The drugs with a shorter half-life are difficult to come off of, like cymbalta. I know quite a few people who have come off of zoloft with no problems at all.

I have been on Lexapro, and find that it has been good in the beginning, and now having a hard time again. I am on the maximum dose, and sometimes I feel like I need something stronger.

This is how I feel too. I am taking 20mg a day and I feel blaaaahhhhh. I am wondering if zoloft would be better for me.
I did come off Lexapro when I found out I was PG and the withdrawal was terrible. Just terrible.

Re: Antidepressants/Anti-Anxiety Meds
I was on zoloft from age 17-26. I only came off last year to start TTC. I never had any problems with it and was very happy with how effective it was.
If you have any specific questions at all, please feel free to ask!!

Re: Antidepressants/Anti-Anxiety Meds
I was on xanax after my first husband passed away and it actually made me insane (crying on the floor wanting to kill myself insane)... a friend of mine actually had to come over everyday and give me the amount of pills that i was allowed for the day... however i was not only dealing with the grief of losing my husband, my parents and family went off the deepend.. combine that with medication and i was a depressed mess...

Re: Antidepressants/Anti-Anxiety Meds
I have taken zoloft 2 different times in my life & I have never had any side effects. It has helped me a lot. I also take xanax for break through anxiety. I really l limit the xanax. I have had the same script for months.

Re: Antidepressants/Anti-Anxiety Meds
i was on zoloft before we were ttc'ing. coming off of it was something i never want to have to do again.
i am currently on pristiq for post partum depression. i felt it was working very well and then i 'plateaued' and doubled the dose (as per doc). i'm feeling better after a few weeks of this dosage!

Re: Antidepressants/Anti-Anxiety Meds
To lexapro ladies: 20 mg is not a max dose. I am at 20 mg, and sometimes I feel that it is starting to wear off, my neurologist insists on 30 mg, saying that he has patients on 40 mg of Lex Also, regarding Lex withdrawal: A few years ago withdrawal was not bad, but i did it way too quickly, i think i switched from 20 to 10, was on 10 mg for a week, and then stopped. This time around, if i ever get off it, i will have down 5 mg for 3 month each
