Any Accountants...quick Q
My employer had my W2 wrong (wrong SS# & no address listed). The acct. brought this to my attention last week. He still tried to E-file & it got bounced back. I told employer. Yesterday acct. tells me they need a revised W2. I tell my employer & the guy says he will submit it to the IRS???
Do I have a right to get a corrected W2 immediately in my hands???
Is he able to "submit" the revised one to the IRS w/o it getting lost among the billions of other people??
I'm right now b/c we're not getting any refund until this is taken care of. Not feeling the love at my employer & my DH is

He should have been able to give you a new W-2. Find out if youe employer mails paper W-2's ore submitts them electronically. If he submitt's electronically, you should be able to file& get your return faster.

Re: Any Accountants...quick Q
If I were you, I would file a paper tax return, attach the incorrect W-2 to the return, along with a small note explaining the error.
On your employer's side, it all depends on how they process the payroll and how they filed the company's W-2's, whether they did it by paper or electronically. They will definitely have to file a corrected W-2 for you, but who knows how long it will take for the IRS to process.
I would call the IRS for more info: 800-829-1040
