Any advice? Andy won't climb stairs anymore.

He's almost 22 months. He used to climb up the stairs like a little monkey. For the past month or so he just stands there and waits to be carried, and if I walk up and tell him to come up he just stands there and cries and cries. So I end up picking him up b/c we are usually running late to drop Sarah at school. And forget about going down, he has always refused to do that.

I need him to get back into the habit b/c he'll be going to camp this summer and there are a few small staircases he'll need to navigate to get to in the building, to the library, the playground, etc.

He never fell, so I can't imagine that he's scared. I just don't know what to do anymore. It's so strange.

DD went through a faze like that, but it was because she fell. She got out of it on her own, so I don't really have any advice for that. The only thing that I could think of is maybe you could put a toy a few steps up and see if he goes for it? If so, do it for a few days and then move it up higher.
