Any advice on how to stop cursing?
I mean I know it should be easy to just not do it....but its hard sometimes. I dont even realize I am doing it! I dont do it in front of the big bosses at work or anything like that, but I just find that when I am talking to coworkers, DH, friends, its like every other word out of my mouth is eff or shizz!

Replace curses with words that sound like them - one of my favorites is mother ducker!

Re: Any advice on how to stop cursing?
Just try to be more mindeful. You would be surprised how quickly you stop. I have a friend who curses like a truck driver, as they say, and after i hang out with her, I curse a lot also, but then once I realize it, I see how much I do it and it's easier to stop.

I do try and replace my words sometimes - then I end up saying fark or shizz or something like that. I guess I just have to be more mindful and actually think before I speak!

Have children who will constantly remind you that you just said a bad word --- or worse, copy you.
I've learned to pause before speaking when I'm angry. It usually slips out more when I'm driving. I still remember clearly when a train was going by hearing "Oh crap, now you've missed your train!" from the backseat.

Re: Any advice on how to stop cursing?
I find myself cursing a lot when I am fustrated and angry. My co-workers know when I am annoyed because every other word out of my mouth is F*** or $H!T. I've even done this in front of the COO.
I just try to take a deep breath when I am annoyed and walk away from the situation.
But sometimes curses just come out. It's natural. Especially when driving. I have a ton of D!ckheads on the road with me

Re: Any advice on how to stop cursing?
If you figure it out, let me know!!! DH and I tried to give it up for Lent, we have to put a dollar in the poor box for every curse, between the two of us were at almost $300!!!

Re: Any advice on how to stop cursing?
I just have hubby tell me everytime I curse. It's such a bad habit, you do it half the time without even realizing it! By having someone make you aware of how OFTEN you do it - I find myself making more of an effort to stop.

Re: Any advice on how to stop cursing?
That replacing curse words with other words doesn't work for me at all. Even if I try it I find it doesn't satisfy my momentary anger. Once I get my litany of swears out I actually feel better.
I used to pay for words, give them up for Lent and so far I can't do it for good.
The only thing I do is make a serious effort not to do it in front of Andrew...
