Any BTDT tips for taking a baby under 6 months out in the summer sun?
DD is 10 weeks and it has become super sunny and hot in S. Florida. I want to sit out with her more often, but the heat and tropical sun make me nervous. I put a hat on her, but she sweats a lot. I use a small amount of sunblock as per the ped. I just wonder what the guidelines are and how I should dress her. Also, what is the limit before she should go inside?
It has been close to 90 daily. I hate leaving her in the infant carrier, as she doesn't love it after awhile.

where do you want to go with her?
do you have a big umbrella or sun dome that she can be under? I would try to keep her as protected from the sun as possible...

Yeah, I have the sun dome. Either down to the pool or in the backyard. I just worry about the heat.

I would sit out with her either early in the day or after 3pm.
We went to Florida in July when Christopher was 3 months old, but it was freezing and rained, so I can't really help ya there.
We did take him to the beach in Montauk at 8-9 weeks, I had a sundome under the umbrella, sunblock and the SPF clothes.
He is STILL Whitey McWhite

I will be in FL soon and plan on bringing 3 month old to the beach with us.
I plan on keeping his body covered with those cute swim shirts and I will put a hat on him and bring an umbrella.

Last summer DS was 5 / 6 months old. I took him to the beach and had a sun dome. I also took him to Florida in August. He had bathing suits with rash guards and hats. I used sun block and mostly kept him covered except when I brought him in the pool. I dresses him like we dressed our selves. I didn't want him to get too hot.

My ped said I could use sunscreen on my DD last summer.. she was 4 months.. so we did it... dont want to start any drama... but she was fine... we also did use a sun dome.. but she still got hot.. the pool/water got her to cool down...
I think I am going to montauk memorial day weekend too!

Then bring layers, as you know it will be freezing
I wish I was going to be out there, I have my cousin's wedding on Sunday

We go out everyday! We've been to the beach. C does sweat but as long as she is not fussy and the sun is not on her, I keep her out as long as I want

my ped would always to say unless you are someone who is always really hot or really cold you should dress them as you would dress yourself. In 90 I'm not sure how long I would sit out - even in the shade at 10 weeks b/c you risk them getting dehydrated easily. Maybe just a diaper or really lightweight bubble outfit and keep them in the shade and hydrated. Both my girls were summer babies (June and May) but I avoided taking them out for long on days hotter than 85.
