Any clever ways of getting into a new lease and breaking out of an old?

I went to toyota today bc I found out my rav4 comes with a 3rd row. I am very interested. I leases my SUV 1.5 yrs ago. If I released today they want 2k in penalties and the price per month is actually lower by 10 bucks...go figure. The only option I went away with was waiting another yr bc there are no penalties 6 months before the lease is up. This sux since I really could use the third row.

My DH and I "got rid" of our leased car using Swap a Lease

You can post your vehicle info and if somebody wants it, they take over your lease. We had a sporty coupe and I got pregnant so we wanted to get an SUV. We were able to find someone who wanted our car and it worked out great! There were 15 months left on the lease. Can't hurt to check it out!

Go to another toyota dealer, find one that will work with you.

DH leased a 2010 mazda for 42 months, just got out of it with 20 months left on the lease. Got into a new 2012 mazda with nothing down, same payments.

Which Mazda dealer? I leased a 2010 CX9 and have another year left. Would love to trade in early if I can.

We leased from Wantagh Mazda.

Sorry i'm in FL, we just went one weekend to see what would happen totally not thinking it would work in our favor. DH's tires were pretty bald so instead of replacing them (hate doing that on a leased car), we stopped in and ended up with a brand new car. Chat Icon

My friend just walked into a Honda dealer and leased a new car. Her old car still had 9 months left on the lease. The dealer "ate" the cost (although we know somewhere in there she is paying for some things) and she was able to get a brand new car.
