Any Dr. B patients do the karyotyping tests with LabCorp? And immunity testing?
-DH and I are supposed to go for karyotyping -DH for SA -Me for thrombophilia (Bio Reference) and maybe an immune workup (which he said most insurances don't cover and it costs around $700 )
I'm under the impression that he preferred Quest for the karyotyping, but it's not in my insurance, so will need to go with LabCorp.
Just curious about people's experiences with any of these tests....
(And PSA for the thrombophilia...I went to BioReference first thing Fri morning. We were two tubes in when the tech pulls the needle and said they recently changed the policy and will only do the thrombophilia panel M-W!!!)

I went to Lab Corp for the clotting tests - it was about 22 vials of blood, but not so bad!
I did my immunity testing @ my first appt. with Dr. B. The woman I spoke to in order to make the payment said that I can call for an itemized bill, and that I might be able to bill GHI myself to cover part of it. I haven't followed up with that yet.
I went for the karyotyping at Quest. DH's insurance requires him to go to Enzo or Sunrise, and Dr. B's office recommended Enzo. He tried to go on Saturday, but they said they can only do that test on Monday-Thursday.
I am eager to get my results back. DH already had his SA, and that was fine. I am going on Thursday for CD 3 bloodwork and a sono. I am also supposed to have a hysteroscopy, but can't have it now b/c Dr. B is on vacation.

i used bioreference for the thrombophilia (clottimg) testing. my insurance covered it. i cant believe they did two vials and stopped, thats SO lame!!
for immune they drew the blood at dr. Bs but it got sent to Reprosource. i was lucky enough that my insurance covered all of it as well.
is the karotyping the same thing as the HLA's?? if so i did mine at Quest and I think DH either did his at Quest or North Shore LIJ.

I had karotyping and immune testing at Quest. I have empire blue cross and everything was 100% covered. They have great coverage for testing, meds and IUIs but cover NADA for IVF. I use my DH GHI for IVF.

Thanks for the responses! Yeah, I have Oxford Liberty HMO. Quest is not in the plan, nor is it in DH's (United Healthcare).
I guess we'll have to just use LabCorp, and I'll have to get more specifics on the immunity testing.

I have to go for the thrombophilia workup too. Do you have to go to a lab for it or does Dr. B. do it in his office?

The thrombophilia workup can only be done at a lab, they don't do that one at their office..
The immune testing on the other hand CAN be done at his office or AFS in the city but Mon-Thursday only.

Dr. B's office told me that that test could only be done at Bio Reference.

Yes, just a blood test.
Since I work in the city I will go next week to AFS and have it done there.
