Any feedback on these schools for Speech Pathology?
These are the schools in our area that I know offer a master's program. Just wondering where you went and if you can offer any feedback or knowledge of the program at any of these schools.
Hofstra Adelphi CW Post St. John's Queens College (this is my 1st choice right now) Brooklyn College Hunter College Touro College
TIA!

I don't know about the Speech Pathology program at Hofstra, but I went there for my M.S. in Elementary Education and LOVED it. I loved the school, the program, the professors...I was very happy with the education I received there.

I went there for my BA which was fortunately paid for by my parents. For the graduate program it is almost $1k per credit and I need 60 credits With a mortgage and 2 kids, that makes me want to but I know it is a good program and worth it in the long run.
The program costs are the same for CW Post and Adelphi. Queens is MUCH cheaper and apparently has an excellent program but I can't go p/t if I wanted to.
ETA: Adelphi is my #2 right now because they offered a weekend program.

I went to Adelphi for speech and loved it. I also did the weekend program and loved it. At the time I wondered if I didn't learn as much because the classes were so lond, but it was great to really focus on two classes. You can fm me with more specific questions if you want. I graduated a little over 3 years ago.
I did want to add that queens college has a great reputation within the field.

the SLP at my school went to queens and he raved about the program. he is an AMAZING therapist who is extremely knowledgeable so i think the great job he does is definitely attributable to the education he received.
also, in this job market for education, cost should be a big factor. you don't know want thousands in loans and then not be able to find a job.

I know a few graduates from SJU speech program. I never heard them talk bad about it.

Part of the problem with Queens is apparently they get 300 applicants a year and only take 16 I do have some prerequisite to complete so that would at least get my foot in the door, but I would imagine they would take their speech undergrad students before me.

I went to St John's and I loved it. I believe all the schools are pretty competitive. Some want you to have the GRE's. Queens I did undergrad, but they only have a Full-time Grad program. I love CW posts campus and location of the school.
I think you should apply to as many programs as you can.

I went to Hunter for grad school (and Hofstra undergrad). Hunter is a great program, very competitive, incredible prices for tuition. I learned a lot there and had great placements for my externships - and had NO problem getting a job afterwards. Even now when people see my externships on my resume, they are very impressed.
