Any good toys for learning colors?

DH wants me to find something. He is worried she doesn't know her colors. Whatever Chat Icon
Anyway I've looked and don't see anything geared toward that. We do crayons and point the colors of things out all the time but right now green and yellow are her favorite so that's what color everything is.

I can't recommend any toys, but Kate knows all her colors and I think it's probably because of this "Spot" lift the flap book she has. There's a page on the back with all the colors. So why don't you give books a shot?

I second this, I know the "Brown Bear" book and a few others that mention color are good. Also just simple things like shape sorters with different colors, if you play with her and name the colors that would help.

I know that's not exactly what you're looking for, but I can't think offhand of a toy that will do a better job than you interacting with her.

Also if she is only just turning 2, I think it's still a little early to worry about her learning her colors, I'm sure some kids do but I don't think most of them know the names of each color. I think just being able to understand that things are different colors is enough at this age.Chat Icon

Re: Any good toys for learning colors?

Melissa and doug have a fish puzzle with all different color fish that they have to match....they also make a shape/color sorter which is great. I just bought those for Ava because right now Ava thinks everything is Green or Blue. I'm hoping that helps.

How about puzzles? I bought some stuff from www.organicgiftshop.com and saw that they had some great puzzles with colors and all types of learning toys on there.

Here's another site: http://www.oompa.com/baby-toys/category/3000/Puzzles.html

Things like this would be good, I think:

Thanks for the suggestions. Most of what was suggested we do. DH for some reason is obsessed with color. I do like those last puzzles posted. I'm going to look into those.

Re: Any good toys for learning colors?

you can tell your DH that many kids do not know there colors until the age of 3... I know this because I ask my brother on numerous of occasions...

Keep doing what you are doing.. I am sure she will learn them very soon...

Re: Any good toys for learning colors?

The best education and american made toys are TAG toys which can be found on amazon. If you go to their website, they have catergories of what you're trying to teach your child or by age.
