Any Hershey Park tips?
DH and I (no kids), want to go there for a weekend this summer. Is there enough to do there for 2 days for adults? Is it worth staying at the Hershey hotel? Does it get crazy crowded?
Thanks!

Re: Any Hershey Park tips?
Do you like rides? If so, then 2 days is NOT too much. No way.
I have stayed only at Hershey lodge, countless times since childhood and adulthood combined.
ETA- I took out info that I was wrong about re Hershey hotel
But 2 days, def not too much. We like to spend a good 2 days in the park, taking our time. But then again, we go on everything we can possibly go on.
If you mean crowded in a Disney sense, no, I would not compare it to that at all. Def not like Disneys crazy crowded times. Hersheypark is super clean, and so fun. And right now Dunkin Donuts has park ticket discounts going on. Plus Hershey Lodge has a promotion if you stay 2 nights and book to arrive on a Sunday or Monday, it is a reduced rate.

$279 a night vs 329+ a night.
Here is the link. Only thing is if you book for longer than 2 nights (say Sun - Tues) call to book it, b/c I did booked online and for some reason since I stayed an extra day, I was charged the full amt for ALL nights. I called up and they adjusted the rates for Sunday and Monday.

We LOVE rides!!!!
Is there an advantage to staing at one of the Hershey hotels? That sounds really expensive!

I just think HL is phenomenal. Just more resort like than other local hotels. A few restaurants in the lodge to choose from. A bar. Mini Golf course. 2 Pools.
No real big advantage IMO, other than you can use Hershey busses from your hotel to get to the park. You never have to drive (disney like, which we like).

Re: Any Hershey Park tips?
OK i take something back.
I just went to the Hershey Hotel's website. Man they have changed alot since I visited. The pool looks amazing!! I actually think I should stay there. Gonna go look at the prices now, but I imagine it's a lot more than Hershey Lodge.
Now i really have to spend alot of time on the website, I can't believe how amazing the pool looks. I think it's new, wasn't this pool when I visited. This will definitely attract more families there, esp with that slide. WOW!
Also...forgot to add...if you stay in a Hershey resort, you get to enter the park a few hrs early the night before you plan to use your ticket for a preview.
Again, looking at the Hotel, I am amazed at the pool area, esp for kids. Hershey Lodge does not have that kind of pool. I am going to price out the difference, b/c I want to stay there now.

Re: Any Hershey Park tips?
Holy Moly. I have been in the dark! In 2009, the Hotel Hershey changed. I guess they tried to get away from their adult mostly image...and that's clear b/c they are gearing more towards families now.
This is what they did in 2009.
"Throughout 2009, The Hotel Hershey officially unveiled its $67 million building campaign known as “The Grand Expansion,” which launched as part of the Hotel's 75th anniversary celebration. Along with upgrades to the Hotel’s front entrance, the expansion features 10 new luxury guest cottages; one meetings cottage; a multi-pool swimming complex with an infinity-edge pool; year-round ice-skating rink; new recreation area; 130-seat restaurant, Harvest; and seven new boutique shops known as The Shops At The Hotel Hershey"
OMG. I have to stay there now! Is is a good 100+ more a night than Hershey Lodge, but it has amazing amenities that I didn't know existed. I was totally unaware of their big revamp, since I was there before it happened.

If you are interested in history, there is a civil war museum not far. It was really interesting. I happened to go there because we went to Harrisburg for 2 days and the one day it poured.

I liked the Lodge better b/c it had a younger, more fun, family vibe. Apparently Hershey was losing business at the hotel b/c it was geared mostly towards adults/older people (which was stupid since Hershey is more for families). I guess that's why they revamped it and put that pool. I did not know! Now I want to stay there for sure for that pool alone. Even their promo for the hotel is saying "NEVER STUFFY". So apparently they knew what the vibe used to be....and changed it.

Re: Any Hershey Park tips?
Are there any non-hershey local hotels I should look at? I doubt we'll go in the pool. We're ride people, and we don't want to take off work to go during the week or extend the trip

That I don't know.I have only stayed at the Lodge.
There is a nice one in Lancaster area, Eden resorts. But it is about 25 mins away from Hershey. But alot of people on here stay there. They have great townhouses according to a friend of mine, for a great price.

Wow, that looks great! Just what I was looking for...a great pool with an outdoor slide. BUT, I can't justify $399 a night. Let us know how it is when you go!

Yeah they are REALLY pricey. Wow I just priced it our and for 2 nights it was like 900!! plus the 11% tax (standard). I dont know now. the Lodge was a little more doable. And Eden is EXTREMELY doable.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn East on Lindle Road in Harrisburg (10 minute drive). They have a nice outdoor pool and playground (no slide), and the rooms are spacious.
We have also stayed at the Towne Place Suites in Harrisburg, and it's very nice there. Full kitchen in the rooms, and very modern. They have free breakfast (which is GREAT), and an indoor pool. There are a ton of restaurants nearby and it's across from a mall. 10 minute drive to Hershey also.

Re: Any Hershey Park tips?
Cool! it's just me and DH so the townplace or days inn thing is probably more our speed. I'd love to stay at one of the Hershey hotels as research or whatever, but that's pricey and we don't care about water slides, pools, etc. We're going to St. Lucia in June and we're staying at a Disney resort with a great pool (which we will probably never dip a toe in, knowing us) in October, so the pools, etc would be wasted on us
